    Re: beovox 5000 type 6223

Hi, today I finally won a pair of 2500's on ebay.

    http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110222677977&ssPageName=ADME:B:EOIBSA:DE:1123

When (and if)  they arrive I'll let you know my impressions.

I plan to  try them out in two configurations

Directly to the 5000's, and to connect them directly to speaker 2 on my Beomaster 7000, however I don't see any controls to switch speaker 2 on and off.

    Can anyone help ?

    Andrew

Speaker 2 is really designed for the MCL system so you cannot mute it. In all other respects it will act just like a normal Speaker 2 - it will always be on.

I will be very interested to see what you think of them!

    Re: beovox 5000 type 6223

Finnally received the cubes in the post on Friday.

I connected them in the traditional way as for now I don't feel like lentgthening the wires,

Initially I was disapointed as there was almost no sound coming out of them, but after trying out some different pices of music, I really found that they could  improve on the 5000's alone. (Time / Dark side of the moon)

Given that my dinning room is at  180°  from where the speakers are, you can really notice the difference. Also at low volumes I find that I am no longer constantly turning up the treble.

The units are in "Ok" condition (given their age) however I plan on sanding them down and fixing all the chipped edges and then spray paint them back to as original as I can.

Does anyone know if the speaker grills can be just popped out or are they glued in position.

Any help on restoring would be apreciated.

    Regards to all

They are glued but should pop out using a blunt flat blade. The difficulty will be reproducing the logo once you have resprayed the speaker.

The Logo is actually in pretty good shape, so I'll be spending some time taping over it.

    Thanks

    Hi all,

it's been a while since my last post. I thought I would finally post some pictures of my restoration work. The 5000' s looked in similar condition to the cubes when I found them in the local flea market but they really only needed a good sanding a some oil.

Still looking for a Beolab 5000 system, but most are out of my reach when and if they become available.

    Irespectable conditions as well.

Excellent job with the cubes Andrew!
Thanks for sharing, and good luck in your quest for the whole system. You won't regret it!
