    Re: Your latest purchase?

    Chris:

Have just picked up a mint Beolab 2000, not relising it was masterlink! SO.

What the best way to connect this to our Beovision 7-40 mk3 in an adjacent room? Is their a radio/IR Masterlink or is it yet more cables?

Thanks, and even though it doesn't work and i have no clue to connect it, i'm sure i'll love itEmbarrassed

You have to connect it using Masterlink. That´s the only way.

You will only be able to listen to the TV sound, obviously, since you do not have any Audio master.

I was under the impression that you could use the Beovision 7/Beolab 2000 as a remote CD player without requiring an audio master?

    BeoFab:

I just bought the new Earset 3i, very impressed with the quality of the materials and the sound. I made a comparision between the 3i and the Apple headphones, not the ones that come with the iPod/iPhone but the ones in-ear which are supposedly better with better bass etc. Well it was as if I were comparing a Ferrari with a Yugo, no kidding. The 3is are really, really good specially in the vocals and mids, bass is not that bad either, but the clarity and separation is amazing. I must say that I had never owned a pair of A8s so for me was a whole new experience.

I had birthday this Tuesday, and my son (now earning his first own money) gave me a pair of Earset 3i. He knows exactly what daddy wants Smile

Fully agree with your above review. They sound fantastic. Good demo track is Nils Lofgren´s "Keith don´t go", from his live album. Awesome accoustic guitar playing.

Nothing as cool as a BL5000, but I was very pleased that when I put seven Energizer 357 watch batteries in my new Beomaster Control Module, it worked perfectly.

Well, actually that is rather brilliant!

The original is tough to find in the states, and expensive when you do!

I can get a (20) pack of these 357's on Amazon for $3.25USD!

Tip of the month -thanks Rich!

Give me a few minutes and I'll take a photo of the batteries inside the remote.  Just got back from IKEA where I found a turntable shelf solution.

The seven Energizer 357 watch batteries are just placed in series inside the battery compartment.  I just removed the four screws on the back of the remote, pulled the remote apart, and put the batteries in as shown one at a time.  Obviously you need to have all the positive terminals pointing in the same direction.

I suppose you could put some tape around the whole stack first.  I seem to remember reading that somewhere - probably here.

Be a bit careful putting the remote back together - the terminal leads are wide enough to be a very close fit.

As to how long does it last?  Just fired it up yesterday.  Will let you know when they die!

    Jaff,

I find it not so hard to get some replacements here in Germany - and they aren't too expensive.

This is a "photo cell". In Germany you can get it e.g. here:

    VARTA V74PX

Not intended to be an ad though - just to be aware of prices to expect... not related to them anyway.

Don't know about availability in the states Embarrassed

EDIT: What makes me wonder is that on my V74PX there's also printed 10LR54: That makes me curious as an LR54 is 11.5 x 3.1mm by dimension and 10 of them will make roughly the 32 x 14mm the 15V-unit is sized. Maybe that's nothing but Rich's solution in a professional housing Stick out tongue

That's really cheap Gunther,  not sure what shipping price will be to Holland. Bought one at Conrad last time.

    Never seen those before.

Are they one-offs, or are they unique to a country/market, or historical catalogue items ?

First B&O (1976) was a Beogram 1500 ... latest (2011) change has been to couple the BL11 with the BL6Ks *sounds superb*
