Has anybody else updated, and was it possible to connect Iphone/Ipad ?

Where's the userguide to explore the new functions? The actual userguide (as always) does NOT mention which USB-Audiointerface you can use or how to listen to Bluetoothsources, Control via Android/iOs-Device... so:

- Can I use ANY USB-Audiointerface to connect external devices?
- Can I play WMA losless via Android- or iOs- devices? 
- Can I control the Beosound 5 through an Android- or iOs-Device?


Sounds like the Beosound 5 is getting much more interesting! :)

Any detailed infos? 


EDIT: I'm still missing a manual forward search/cue function to move quickly inside a track, e.g. to reach 03min58s inside a track to listen to the solo etc.

I have been able to connect and control the Beosound 5 with both an iPhone and an iPad although much of the cover art does not work.

how did you connect the iPad to your  Beosound 5? Special Software? Please share your knowledge :-)

I want to try it out today when I'm back at home.

First, it is my understanding that the Beosound  5 needs to have Audio Master set to on.

Second, my experience has been it is also necessary to have Music Server set to on, or yes, I forget which it is right now.

Third, an app needs to be installed on the iPad. My dealer has told me that B and O recommends Twonky. I could not get it to work at all on my iPhone but when installed on my iPad it worked.

I have also tried an app called Media Connect with some success.

DLNA Remote would not find the Beomaster.

The two that seem to work best for me are plugplayer and 8player. 8player was the quickest easiest set up, all was automatic. 

Twonky will actually turn the system on, or switch the system from whatever source is active to the music but dos not seem to work consistently. 

Also, you must choose A. Aux.

 

How dos you connect? Do you need MasterLink Gateway or is it purely WiFi through your home WiFi setup?

USB WiFI in BM5?

Bluetooth connection in BM5?

 

Can anyone answer that? Can´t finde details on bang+olufsen home page.

 

I´m looking forward to this if I can use my IPad and without the MasterLink Gateway which I don´t have.

Wifi through home network. No Masterlink Gateway required.

I found another app. eLyric for iPad. Not only does it turn on the B and O, volume can be controlled from it, although it is a bit sensitive and easy to turn up too loud accidentally. The volume display on the BV7 responds also. Also, when an album is playing, touching the small icon opens it up to full page including album notes. Unfortunately, not all cover art is present.

I tried Twonkey and 8player. 8player has no covers displayed in the Free edition, and I don´t know if the pay version has?

Twonkey has poor quality covers when displayed on BS5, and seems like a poor designed interface with lack of options.

Any good experiences with good interface and high quality cover display on BS5?

This is realy nice, when some one makes a nice application with cover etc. I have been waiting for this!!!

 

Any one found 'the app' for BS5/BM5?

No cover art in the pay version.

I have now read the posts regarding the update and am a little confused: I have downloaded plugplayer which wants an xml file - what is this, and twonky can't find beosound5, and imediacentral can't either, so is possible that one could write a short "tutorial for dummies" about how to set up your beosound5/beomaster5 with one of these new apps. By the way my Beo5 has stopped working - can't  get in contact with my beosound5 - can I reset the remote and how?

I did not have to put an XML file in and both Twonky and Plugplayer found my Beosound. Do you have the Beosound set to Audiomaster and Music Server ON?

Thank you for your answer. Now I have set to Beosound to Audiomaster, but how do I put Music Server on? In network info says: music server disabled, bonjour service not running. How do I enable??

Thanks a lot. It works with twonky, imedicontrol can't find a device. however it finds my synology diskstation, not my beomaster, so the music comes from the diskstation and is played through beomaster, is that correct? on the iphone display it say beomaster5 underneath the cover.

With Twonky I am able to 1.play the music on the Beomaster 5/Beosound 5 and control it with the Tonky app on iPhone or iPad, 2. Stream music from iPhone or iPad to the 5 and control it with the app, and 3. Stream music from the iPad to the 5 and control it with the iPhone.

How do you do that - the oly devices twonky can find are diskstation and eyeconnect. As I wrote in the other post I have now enabled audiomaster and music server. Have you altered anything else? As I am writing Twonky is now frozen...., but imediacontrol is working 8diskstation)

I am at work right now so I will tell you as best I can without having the Beosound in front of me.

In the Twonky App there are places to select both the server and the player. Once it finds the device you can select it. If the app is not finding the device, I am not sure why.

From the home screen select the book icon at the top left and that should give you a list of all detected devices. Click on the circle by the one you want and press set at the bottom right.

Then, you select music and at the bottom left there will be an icon, on mine a phone. Press it and it will give you a list of possible players to choose in the same manner.

As I am at work both lists show only the iPhone.

A thought, maybe try shutting the Twonky app down, turning the Beosound on, and then turning app on. I think I did that once and it helped one of the apps I have tried find it.

It plays, but it seems from my diskstation, even though beomaster is the player. And when I want to play a track it says unable to start playback because beosound stops on PAUSE - I wonder why. 

Anyway here is my library : diskstation (selected), eyeconnect, twomky server (8iphone), I press music, press iphone icon down left >select beomaster5 as player, so the tracks come from my diskstation, don't they?

In imediacontrol beosound does not go on pause, but it still get the tracks from my diskstation......

I am not sure what a diskstation is. I get the same message about unable to start playback. Pressing play on the Beo 4 will start it.

 

The diskstation is my synology nas harddisk where I keep my music backup - apparently twonky and imediacontrol for that matter can only see the diskstation, not beomaster5. I take it that your library says beomaster5??
