    Eugene:

Imagina the cost of shipping a broken TV from Finland to the USA in order to obtain a working Beolink 1000.Laughing

Not quite what I had in mind! Laughing

But I know the problem. I gave up fleaBay as a source of cheap remotes. I have enough of them now, but they have all come along with something else on local purchases (except the one I bought from Chris which is still giving good service Wink )

I believe the deal with turntable cartridges is that people have a broken one, they have been quoted an insane amount for a replacement, and don't know that 95% of the used ones on sale are bad as well or will soon be.

    Hi Dave et al,

Sorry I'm the so-and-so that got this.  Just started getting into B&O recently (joined Beoworld a few days ago) and saw this one early.

It's still sitting in it's box waiting for a special shelf to be made for it to take pride and place on my wall.  It is a very nice piece.

Hope I don't spoil anyone else's bids.  (Although I also got the white P45s recently - so probably did again.)

Enjoying reading stuff on here so will pop back to keep up with the latest chat.

Re: Hope one of us got .......

Hi Iain and welcome to the forum.

It's all a part of the auction game and I'm certainly not upset.  The white P45's are a good find and an auction I was also tempted with.  I've just outbid another Beoworlder on a Beogram 1500 and also just bought a Beogram 4000, 4002 and 4004 + a Thorens TD160 in the last month.  I need to start selling some stuff to make space - and help pay for my next bids!.  I'm really after the Holy Grail - a Beogram 7000 record deck in white and I was a bit miffed yesterday when I checked AV Lifestyle and found that they'd just sold one.  The wait goes on.

I'm glad that you're happy with your 800 and it looks like you're going to treasure it.

    Dave.

    Cheers Dave,

Good luck with your search.  I quite fancy a Beomaster 5000, Type 2005, 2013 - really just for the engineering excellence, but I won't be too disheartened if I never get one.

    Catch you next time,

    Iain

    Iain,

as part of the restoration of my Beomaster/Beolab 5000 system by Frede, I bought an additional Beomaster 5000 and had it sent to Frede directly.  It is functioning and I don't know how stripped it will end up as part of my restoration.  It seemed a good price:
