Sadly she's less into the older items, and so fails to get excited by the likes of my Beogram 8000, Beogram 8002 and Beocord 8000. I dread to think what she'll say about the Beomaster 8000 when I collect it from Tim Jarman!

Oh I so understand your predicament, Adam.

My partner, who had been tolerating my Beomaster 4400/Beogram 4004/CDX sitting quietly and relatively unobtrusivley on her oak dining room unit  nearly had a fit when this was replaced by Peter's complete Beolab 8000 and the CDX, and in particular the BM, to which she refers as 'that great ugly thing'.   When I susggested the MS150s to go with it, well......

Yes, I remember that John when I visited you both.  Anyway, it's still there, although I did try and buy the 'baby brother' 6000 a few weeks ago when a beautiful example  cropped up on ebay.  I thought that might help alleviate the problem but the reality would have been that I would want both and that would have generated even more angst!

I was so excited last weekend after buying my vintage 2000 Penta's that almost the entire Saturday night was a restless night for me. On Sunday night I woke up at three am to go listen to my penta's. I adore them ...

Now that was last weekend but tonight my girlfriend told me she had also a very restless night yesterday. She speaked of "Penta insomnia" ! Unsure

Re: Funny stories from your spouse about B&O

Before I had my BL5's my living room setup I had a BL2 sub. My ex would call it the turd. She would say, "all their products are so cool except for the turd, what do you need that for"?

We remain good friends and recently she comes around and looks in my bedroom at my new white setup (all white, BV10, BL3's and BL2). First thing she said was, "I see you have a stale turd on the floor"!

Also had someone ask if my BL5's are airconditioners! He wasn't joking either. Almost asked him to leave.

Perhaps she thinks "Penta" is code for something completely different?

My GF nearly flipped out when I bored a couple of holes through the stone walls to run the Beolink cable through the back rooms.  That'll teach her for complaining about the "ugly exposed cable running down my hallway."

It's a case of "watch this space" for me..... I collected Peter's old MS150s yesterday which I'd actually paid for in April, but with working away from home during the week in London, yesterday was the first window of opportunity I'd had to pick them up. What a tremendously nice chap Peter is! Anyway, Mrs h1npw is away until Wednesday evening, so if you hear on the BBC that there's been an unexplained nuclear explosion in the Midlands Wednesday pm, you'll know what the cause is........

As I occasionally buy and sell B&O on ebay I'm hoping she'll think they're in transit.....and then over a period of time she'll get used to them.......that's the plan, anyway. It's either that or divorce, cos I ain't getting rid of them...the sound is just fantastic.....

    Wish me luck!

    Cheers

    Nigel

Yeah - I tried that one Nigel.

Didn't work........ but we're stil married - sans MS150's. To be fair to SWMBO she's pretty laid back for a Beowidow & puts up with most of my B&O foibles.

Jo, just does not get the B&O thing at all. She really cannot understand the difference between a Beosound 1 or something you could pick up for £20. Well they both play CD's is her answer.

They.. are the BeoLab 5's.  My wife's friends who 'disapproved' of the BL5's don't really count as anything, human or otherwise.  Sorry.

I'm sure many houses differ, but i'm a 'Northerner' - and i have the last word, much as i love my wife - but she's not always right, as i'm sure most women are.  Smile

My ex-girlfriend was precisely the same. Everytime I asked for her opinion or comment on the equipment she just rolled her eyes and told me what I wanted to hear.

And Lee, she was also a nemesis of the Lab 5's, referring to them as trees!

However, I am happy to report this has been dealt with and I will alert you all to my present girlfriend's thoughts very shortly! Laughing

To your reply, I don't understand why you spend x on a bag / shoes when you can spend $20 bucks on shoes / bag - they both hold stuff (feet / crap).  Plus you only have one beosound and she may have plenty of the other :-)

    C'mon Michael, be serious....

Whenever you bring up that argument the response is usually something along the lines of '...it's not the same...'
