    Craig:

One limitation I found was that you cannot set the Beocenter to Option 0. Or any other Option for that matter. So you got double commands when using the remote. Not sure if there was a later S.W. revision to cure this.

There is no software update to allow you to option programme this model. However a small piece of black insulating tape over the ir sensor is as good as option 0. Done it several times when connecting to an video master with speakers connected to the TV.

Hi all, I have indeed reproduced a suitable alternative to the infamous plastic disc. It takes me about two hours to produce one as I must lathe the disk down to a precise thickness and inlay a tiny lip on the underside. As long as the origional spring is intact, you're good to go. I have replaced the clamp on my 9000 and have also replaced one for a friend. I will produce them for 20e for anyone who wants one.

    Bump!

Brilliant Mdyarnell. 20e is well worth reverting a radio cassette back to a full Beocenter 9000. If I even had a fully working model I'd buy one off you just for insurance!

Hats off to youYes - thumbs up

    Re: Beocenter 9000 questions

reviving this thread- Did a remote come with the BC9000 originally? I have an option to buy a 9000 with a Beolink1000 remote for $500 USD. Looks clean and described as all working but cassette sounds muddy. I know value is the buyer's determination, but I wonder what these are selling for in the US. I think many B&O items are a little cheaper in Europe. With the 1000 remote included, this would put the 9000 at $400 USD. It would have to be shipped and seller seems knowledgeable on how to pack it securely. i have read most all threads here on this piece, and know the repair issues, but wonder what they sell for in the US. They are not up for sale often where I can see. Thanks.

    Re: Beocenter 9000 questions

Yes, they came with an Audio Terminal, a pre Beolink 1000 remote that looked like a Link 1000 and used all the Link 1000 codes. At least mine did when I bought it in 1986.

A genuine Beolink 1000 will do the job just fine.

$500 does seem rather a lot of money, even in the US. That's around £325 and I don't think any one would pay that amount in the UK considering the repair issues. You can buy a 9500 or 9300 for less than that.

My 9000 CD doesn't work most of the time,  but I just added a B&O CD changer to the tape 2 input,  and I have ten CD capability  including the cassette and beogram 9000.  I have been lucky to have aquired three of these changers  (US) and use them on three systems in my home.

    Hi Steffen,

The B&O CD Changer was a special model made for the North American market only (I'm not sure if any were sold elsewhere?) during the early 90's.  It was actually just a Sony 10 Disc Car CD changer (magazine type)!  Not much from the Sony was changed, not even the casing, it looked practically identical to the Sony.  The only difference being that it had a B&O "controller" and 7 Pin Din cable, so it could be connected to a Beomaster's Tape 2 socket and be controlled by the B&O remote.  I've heard they made it to "test the waters" for the demand for a real B&O CD changer (which of course brought us the BS9000), and because CD changers were very popular here in the early 90's, and were almost a "must have".  I think they mainly sold them to BS 5500/6500/7000 customers, but they will work with other datalink capable Beomasters and Beocenters.

    Tommy
