Matching a classic with another classic. I suppose I will have to restain the wood finish on the turntable to match the Beomaster.

I like it. i think they make a good combo.

As a former shareholder I'd prefer a Fiskars axe as I'd need to clear about 1 km to reach the shore Laughing

@Rich, those were actually US spec BL8000's when I bought them, which is probably why I managed to BIN them for peanuts. An hour of work (and 90 euros for 2 new tweeters) later they run at 230V and sound great Smile

I was planning to use my BL5000's here though, but I won't start drilling around until I have some idea of what ends up where in the new flat. It's either this blue wall (which is concrete with nobody behind it) or the bedroom, if it gets too crowded for proper floor speakers.

    MESM:

    Toubro:

I'm a bit curious. Why do you have RCA cables from your devices to the BS3?? And how come you have both a Mac Mini and an Apple TV??

AFAIK, BS3 can not distribute the sound from the digital signal (HDMI) from the four sources (CableTV, PS3, AppleTV and MiniMac) through MasterLink, so it is needed a analog L+R RCA from each one of this source.

    The Mac mini:

    • manages/stores my media collection (music, movies, videos and photos)
    • provides a DVD / CD player (also useful to rip)
    • it is a player to AppleTV2 non-supported formats

    The AppleTV2:

    • provides a nice interface to media library in the Mac Mini
    • has a lot of resources to deal with different sources/media and renting resources
    • has no storage at all

    Hi MESM

That is not true. You can distribute sound from BS3 connected devices connected with HDMI to linkrooms. You just have to press AV before selecting source. I have a mac mini connected to my BV 7-40 and i can have the sound in alle my 3 linkrooms aswell. A softwareupdate for BS3 about a year ago made this possible as far as i remember.

My vintage B&O moves into the main listening room, and is connected to analog speakers that create a soundscape quite reminiscent in the top and mid-tones of the BL5s they have replaced - though not delivering quite the same authoritative punch in the netherlands of sound!

    Yes you may!

I really wish someday I have enough space to do a simple rig like this for myself. I love the thought of one and yours is just brilliant.

Yes! Been in storage ever since I bought them early last year, waiting for me to get a wall. I'm pretty eager to get them running now... These 8000's are the pair we discussed a couple of weeks ago; if they become surplus to requirements, you still have the first dibs Wink
