Re: Bang & Olufsen goes GOLD

When I saw the picture I wanted to click on the 'Report abuse' link underneath!!

IMHO it reeks of Versace (read as Ver-sase lol) and is a bit gaudy for my tastes.

I guess each to their own.....

I always thought that the limited edition Beosound 1 pulled off gold quite nicely.

    i give up , i really do

so much for the brand new attitude of the new bno

stick a load of gold on the top and charge twice as much for the same stuff as before , this is just tragic tbh

Who said anything about "charge twice as much"?

I was under the impression it's just a new colour.

I've just shown it to one of our ID guys - he was struck dumb (for a while). The coloured buttons clash apparently!

    Dave:

B&O is an elite company... so ya can't say it's never been part of B&O philosophy.

If I thought for one second that B&O were elitist I would have absolutely nothing to do with the brand.

Agree that they have never been mass market but they have nearly always been available to everyone who wants quality and are prepared to pay for it. Elitism is all about exclusion and B&O, historically, have never trodden that path and they would be foolish to think that is where the future lies for them.

    Chris.

Elite. Not elitist... elite. The products are elite. Ahead of the rest. That's what i am saying. :)

    e⋅lite

    –noun

    1. (often used with a plural verb) the choice or best of anything considered collectively, as of a group or class of persons.
    2. (used with a plural verb) persons of the highest class: Only the elite were there.
    3. a group of persons exercising the major share of authority or influence within a larger group: the power elite of a major political party.
    4. a type, approximately 10-point in printing-type size, widely used in typewriters and having 12 characters to the inch.

    –adjective

    5. representing the most choice or select; best: an elite group of authors.

Sorry but gold B&O is just horribleIck!

Only people with rococo or baroque designs will ever buy this stuff and IMO these are styles which should never have been allowed happened in the first place. Styles which were financed by the idle/priveleged rich striving for oneupmanship and generally paid for on the backs of the poor & towntrodden masses.

I hate this type of ostentation. B&O first appealed to me because it was something to aspire to own (down to great design and cutting edge technology) and within reach of the common man with enough hard work and application. This type of design stinks of elitism which has never been part of the B&O philosophy as far as I can remember - up until now. Are they really so desperate that they feel the need to appeal to the flash Harry's of this world instead of concentrating on what used to be their core values??

Sorry for the rant chaps & chapettes but I've had a bad day.Storm

    Chris.

It's not to my taste either but spare us the party political broadcast Chris, this is not the place.

Not really a party political broadcast Graham, just an explaination into my deep rooted distrust into anything overtly "showy" which gold seems to emit and a style which instinctively raises my hackles. Just NOT what B&O has ever represented to me personally. My comments were - and still are a reflection of that opinion based purely on how the brand has appealed to me so far, an appeal which wanes with such crass & weak marketing ploys.

As for your comment about this not not being the place for a party political broadcast - by which I mean having the right to express an opinion, I have only 3 words - pot -kettle & blackStick out tongue.

    Chris.

The use of metaphors should be avoided like the plague. They're like a red rag to a bull to me.

Re: Bang & Olufsen goes GOLD

    from the b&o news:

However, to preserve the exclusivity of the golden colour, only selected products - including some of Bang & Olufsen’s most iconic video and audio products as well as a range of complementary loudspeakers - can be ordered as golden variants, and there will be a premium price for the golden colour which will be made to order only.

    In grand style
The golden coloured product range will be aimed primarily at high-end customers, including business-to-business clients within the development and hospitality industries. In fact, this is also where the idea for the golden coloured range of products came from in the first place, as the golden colour was specifically requested by the exclusive boutique hotel Villa Rothschild in Königstein, Germany.
