Re: Beosound 5: Repeat Track / Album not possible?
I'm not going to garuntee this, because the coffee hasn't really kicked in yet...but if I select an album in 'Album Mode' it appears to repeat just fine. Barring further experimentation, I will say that 'repeat' seems to be the default mode in this instance.

TWG,
pretty certain, based on the way ours was acting at the store today that it is indeed repeating in Album Mode. If you like that photo, wait for the one taken at the US BeoSound 5 intro party! Coming soon.

Ok, so the only "problem" seem to exist when you directly select a track because Beosound 5 automaticaly switches into MOTS mode. Yep, the photo is nice, but someone is standing in the front of that beautiful car

Re: Beosound 5: Repeat Track / Album not possible?
Hello,
I have to pick it up again:
When I select an album the Beosound 5 stops after the last track. Is there any opportunity to switch REPEAT on or off? When I play one specific track from an album MOTS starts and works.
And some times my Beosound 5 doesn't wake up when I touch the wheel or controller in standby: Is this normal?

Re: Beosound 5: Repeat Track / Album not possible?
Hi, as I understand MOTS is always engaged so when the last song in a playlist or album is played MOTS will take over - thats how it works for me!
If you play an album just transferred to BM5 then MOTS will not function until BM5 has analysed the music.
For the other question, when BM5 is in sleep, then waking up could take 20 seconds
Regards

Re: Beosound 5: Repeat Track / Album not possible?
It doesn't work for me:
If I select and play a complete album it plays till the last track and then stops.
The BS 5 just shows the Cover art and title of the last track as if it is still playing ...
There's the "MOTS"-button on my Beo 5 but the BS 5 gives no feedback if the feature is on or off :-(
Any hints, tips?

Re: Beosound 5: Repeat Track / Album not possible?
What's wrong with my Beosound 5:
How do I activate MOTS or "Repeat Album" etc.?
It would be much easier if there's ANY feedback on the BS 5 to show what's going on.
When I select an album and hit "go" it plays the album till the end and then stops. No Repeat, No Mots and I can't understand why.
I rebooted several times but it didn't help. Am I doing s.th. wrong?

Re: Beosound 5: Repeat Track / Album not possible?
I don't think you have done anything wrong exept if you hacked the BM5 in any way!? How did you rip CD's and put them on BM5 and in what directory on BM5?
When I select an album it plays the album and then continues for I think 8 hours without any interaction from me and then goes to standby.
Have your tried different albums?

Re: Beosound 5: Repeat Track / Album not possible?
TWG,
To try and make me understand, please describe the steps you are normally taking to get the BS5 to play only 1 album without repeating.
Is this in "title", "artist", "album", "cover" etc..
Do you expand the menu say:- "album" mode, press "<" to expand to album detail?
Do you start to play a track mid-album or on a marked track (blue vertical line on the start of an album) etc...
Try to describe your key-strokes so I can go back and see what you are doing.
Also, what happens when you are in "queue" mode. Do you have a list of 70 tracks lined-up there?
What happens when you play a track and push the lever fully up or down (apart from displaying a large abumn cover)?
A bit more info will help me to try and understand your problem.
cheers

Re: Beosound 5: Repeat Track / Album not possible?
TWG,
Just another thought? Can you send a screen-shot of your BM5 file directory structure (you can do this when your master PC has the BM file-system connected through your network)?
It has occured to me that perhaps it may be possible to park all your music in a directory in the BM5 that could not be read by the MOTs engine but can be read for musical playback. Bit of a slim chance but comparing mine to yours may make diagnosis of you problem easier.

Re: Beosound 5: Repeat Track / Album not possible?
Hi,
today I tested it with a demo album with just 1 track.
I choosed the album via
- cover: Plays one track and then stops while still displaying the cover and title (no "Pause" or s.th. else)
- album: the same
- artist: the same
Queue contains just this "album", nothing more.
When I push the lever up or down nothing happens except displaying the big cover. What SHOULD happen?
I noticed that the unit did NOT react to the lever while playing this test album. When I touched the selectionwheel it worked and reacted to the lever and displayed the menu.
BUT:
After I switched the unit on today (it was disconnected from the mains a few days) I played an album and the queue was full (many many tracks ...).
How do I select music?
I tested different settings: Choosed an album with the scrollwheel and just press "go", then I choosed the album with the scrollwheel, press "<" and then press"go".
I can't understand what is (or was) different from my choice after the 1st startup!?
I think this unit is watching me ... after your replies and the first startup it worked. Then I started testing and it didn't work :-(
Is there any way I tell the unit "repeat my album", "use MOTS" etc.? There's a button "MOTS" on the Beo 5 after programming but the unit does not give ANY feedback when I press this button! Only to mention: I didn't test the Beo 5 MOTS button today! It was a few days ago. Today I just did the test described above.
What am I doing wrong?
- How do I copy music?
I connect an external USB-mouse and -harddisk in servicemode and copy the music into the "music" folder on the Beomaster 5.
I have copied about 20 albums just for testing and "learning" to use the BS 5. I'm glad I didn't copy 200 albums because I have many doulbe entries etc. - which seems to be based on bad mp3 tags.
I'm some kind of frustrated with the unit at this point :-(

Re: Beosound 5: Repeat Track / Album not possible?
TWG,
Sounds like your BS5 is working correctly. Perhaps you did not have MOTs originally because the BM5 was still analysising your HDD.
In terms of how the BS5 works (MOTs is always ON btw), the commentary below from TripEnglish is succinct.
TripEnglish: Gentlemen,
It is picking up somewhere on the MOTS playlist that track had initially generated. If you want your Seed 1 list to start with the song you chose, you actually need to hit < , select that first song, and press GO.
Once you spend some time with the interface, this makes a little more sense. Since the player is essentially a smart randomizer, it only pays attention to ordered lists or hierarchies when you ask it to. If, for example, I choose Eric Clapton from my list and press GO, it will start playing at a random point in the Eric Clapton albums I have collected and continue playing Eric Clapton until the catalog is played through (then it will move to a MOTS list). If, however, I press < to move one layer in and then select a specific album title and press GO, it will play the album in correct track order (and then move to a MOTS list).
When you choose an item* to play and press GO to start the music, you are essentially putting the first seed in place. While that item is playing through, you can choose additional items to add to the que. Once it runs out of requests, MOTS takes over.
*I say item because you can select either an entire artist's catalog, an album, or a single song. Whatever layer of sorting you press GO on is what is put in place. So your first seed, for example, could be all of Robbie Williams' music, while the next item could be a single song by The Who. When you look at your QUEUE, you will see the first item you selected, followed by any other items you added to the queue, followed by the MOTS list as denoted by the vertical blue line.
Hopefully this clears it up!
It terms of copying music from your PC to the BM5, there are lots of ways to do it. I for instance have my BM5 connected directly to my Wifi router. This enables two things as far as I can see. First, the N.Radio works very well but also that I can a) connect a LAN Cable to the router and hardwire all my PC music files directly into the music directory of the BM5. b) I can do that wirelessly from my office.
You can as you have suggested, go into Service mode in the BS5, attached a USB HDD and a mouse and simply drag and drop the USB music again into the BM5 music directory. Tracks will be available for playback almost immediately, but MOTs will take at least 7 to 10hrs to process the information based on your library size.
I would finally comment that I do not know how to engage Album repeat on the BM5 (if such a function exists) except to either get up and replay the album or use your remote STEP_DOWN button.
