Re: Whats Playing Now thread - pre-moderated

    Ooooooh, am I #1000?

Right now, I'm listening to "Memoirs of a Geisha"  thru BL8000 and iTunes.  If you like YoYo Ma and Ithzak Perlman, their performances are heart rendering.  The soundtrack will definitely showcase your speakers!

BeoSound 9000, Beolab 8000, BeoLab 4000.   Beogram 4002/Grado Gold Amina conversion.

While having 10 people to dinner last night ... Kathryn Jenkins via iTunes on MacBook and BeoPort to BeoLab 4s:

And via ML through to the BeoSound 4 and its BeoLab 6000s:

(I love having the iTunes details broadcast by the BM-Link software to the BS4 display ...)

And also to the BeoVision 8 (I wish that I could have the BV8 display something like the above ... although displaying the iTunes coloured CD cover is nice , a BS5 like interface would be much nicer!)

First B&O (1976) was a Beogram 1500 ... latest (2011) change has been to couple the BL11 with the BL6Ks *sounds superb*

    Old school cassete tape.

My first TDK MA-XG90 bought last year NOS.

Recorded Ride the lightning and Garage days EP + Am I evil and Blitzkrieg by Metallica on the Beocord 9000 from Beogram 8002.

Now the Beocord 6500 is playing hard and heavy quite good!Smile

JS Bach: Pastorale in F (BWV 950) - dunno the performer nor where the instrument is (caught this on an internet radio station), but I never realized the Pentas would go this low, either Smile

oh yes, if you want to showcase your speakers organ music will do it.  Does this sound familiar?  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mBKMrdz3L_Y

different organists use different stops.  Also, which part were you listening to?

This is BWV 590.  BWV 950 is something else.

My favorites are 538 and 564 with either Ton Koopman (DGG Archive Collection) or E Power Biggs (the 4 great Toccatas and Fugues, antiphonal organs Cathedral of Freiburg Germany).  They will really showcase your pentas.

Ton Koopman for me, but I'm a bit patriotic here. Big Smile Listening to BWV 172 now.

Yes, definitely 590, there was a typo...  Listened to all of it - not particularly a showcase piece in this respect, there was just a short passage where the performer had his foot firmly somewhere far left and it woke me up Smile

'History' by The Verve. One of my all-time favourites. Always sounds so good loud on a decent system.

Hmmm... Do you mean Beomaster 8000 and Beovox Penta's?

Anyway my new white edition Beomaster 8000 is being tested with the CDX. I'm using Beovox S45-2 at the moment at low volume.

    I do!

Saw your new white Beomaster 8000 - it's very nice. The white systems are nearly impossible to find in the UK.

    Maybe.

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Bang-and-Olufsen-Beocord-8002-white_W0QQitemZ270479907453QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CE_Cassette_RL?hash=item3ef9dbda7d

It looks like its been painted though!

My saying is that white is not more rare than it turns up once in a while. If you are hunting for it its more difficult. You have to have patience.

I just saw the link by chance. I've only heard about 1 or 2 BM8000 since 2003 in white.

    Ali Farka Touré - Savane

This guy sounds more like John Lee Hooker than Mr. H himself Smile I highly recommend this album for anyone who likes both blues & African music.

I'll make a note! Will consider it the next time I buy some records (you know, those shiny little things that old farts used to put into CD players - I still only buy them Laughing )

Edit: Aww b0llocks, just ordered it from amazon.co.uk. I'm a bit flabbergasted over how well it works - last weekend I ordered three CDs, all from separate sources, and this Friday morning all three were dropped in my mailslot. Good prices as well.

Shine on you Crazy Diamond - Pink Floyd, Distant Sound of Thunder LP on my BG 8000, Sounding a lot better than my 4002, but I have to recalibrate the tracking force of the 4002 sometime before I can get rid of distortion and lack of bass.
