I agree! The 4500 is clearly the most useful though!

    Re: going retro

I like the 2400 more than any on the other similar models. I like the display and the uncluttered touch area. The 4500 is too shiny and the 3500 too dull. The 3300 is a grey colour with yellow green illumination which I don't like, the 2000 and 3000 have the odd looking block volume  display and one of them loses the numbers for the radio display. The 1900 has the dimples which makes the design lose some of its magic and the 2300 the same. The 2400-2 volume display is for me better than the original 2400.

There you go this master piece of design, its majesti Beomaster 2400-2 (and guests). Yes - thumbs up

    Re: going retro

Sorry to sound simple, but what's the difference between a 2400 and a 2400-2 apart from production date? The product page didn't help much.

The 2400-2 came with the proto datalink to the 4004 as standard - it could be retro-fitted to the 2400. The volume display also differed slightly.

    Re: going retro

Clearly the 4500 is the most beautiful of that beomaster series (and in my opinion the most beautiful beomaster ever), but I didn't recommend it thinking the original poster was looking for something older.  If you disagree that the 4500 is the most beautiful beomaster ever, simply pick it, flip it over, and put it back down on the table, as you were clearly looking at it upside down.  If your name is Peter, and you think it's too shiny, simply move it out of direct sunlight as the manual has already told you to do this anyway!  Stick out tongue

Well it was the first of the stacking systems, I would like a B&O stack system. Just don't have the space though.

    You're not wrong there,Razz.
I smile at my 7000 system, my retro 5000, my cubes, my Beovox 5000 with seven drivers, my Avant, my Beolink7000, my Beo5, my Pentalabs. In fact, I smile at just about.......

How much will a pair of cubes set you back in the UK? if you can get your hands on a set.

Depends pretty much on whether you lusted after it, seeing it every day, months and months before you came to own it. I certainly smile at it every time I see it and I've had it over twenty odd years - true loveEmbarrassed

    Re: going retro

The cubes are like hen's teeth Razz. I know of them changing hands for £700. I was just lucky that Beoworld member Casdave sold me mine included with the sale of Beomaster 5000, Beolab 5000 and Beovox 5000 for a pittence. Bless him!

    Re: going retro

Ok..thats a bit over the top I think.

I can buy a pair in almost mint condition for 380 pounds...

But I know that they are very rare.

Buy your Cubes from Frede Kristensen of Classic Audio.

He recovers used pairs, takes out the tweeters and refurbished them, has the cubes repainted, including silk screen reprinting of the logo, and restores them to as new condition, for less than 380 pounds.
