Re: I am disappointed about beovision 8
Alex: Now with HD, things are beginning to turn, and the latest BeoSystem 3 drive plasmas are beginning to stun with standard definition too...
Having seen the picture on a BV9 with Sky HD, I can say it was the best HD picture I have seen on a TV so far. Just way out of my price range though. That is why I will be sticking with my BV3-32 for a good few years yet. How does the picture on a BV9 compare with that of the later HD BV5's? Craig

Streets ahead. The later BeoVision 5s produce a stunning picture, not that far off some of the CRTs (although I still don't think they were up to the Avant) but the BeoVision 9 really is something else!

Lets just face it, B&O LCD's don't make much sense just yet! Haven't seen the new BV7, but it is still a right rip off if you already have a B&O CRT. I think the BV9 may be the new avant, in that it will eclipse the competition for years to come.

To be fair, LCD technology is solely dependent on the source, as I've noticed since receiving my BV7-40 MKIII, yesterday. Sky HD and blu-ray DVDs generate superb pictures. Only the BV9 or BV4 would compete, in my opinion. However, view SD on a 1080p LCD and you're in for a shock. Hell, my Mum's old 1999 CRT shows SD better than a 2007 BV7-40! The large the panel, the worse SD channels will look on your LCD. Gawd knows what SD would look like on a BV7-46, should that be released!

Re: I am disappointed about beovision 8
The BV7-40 Mk3 is optimised for HD and looks very pixelated compared to even the Mk2 at present. B&O are aware of this and will be releasing a S/W fix at some stage this year. It is indeed very good with HD but as most programmes are in SD, this is unacceptable. The advice to not view from less than 3m is laughable. This is an LCD HD1080 failing generally. The BV9 is in another class - and so it should be!!

Re: I am disappointed about beovision 8
scognamiglio:So just after ten days, my beovision 8 (now in the main room) is going to the bedroom. I am sorry B&O, I am not satisfied at all! Any advice? How many days I have to return back it?
Hi scognamiglio, I'm sorry to read you have second thoughts about the Beovision 8. If you bought it from a regular dealer, try to persuade him (her) to recieve a refund. If the dealer is in for a long time relationship he could give you a refund no questions asked. (You should pay him (her) a small handling fee, if you ask me). I'm a happy Beovision 7 MK1 user, and my set is now past the 3 year warranty period. It's my first real B&O master TV. Before the BV7 we used a MX4002, which is in fact a (slave) link-TV. I too had my doubts at first. But most of the problems we had with it were solved in time. The software version is now 6.8. I would like to update in due time and get a HD-ready kit inside. I hope you can settle something with your dealer. Good luck.

If I remember correctly your 3 years was up on Christamas Eve, wasn't it? Craig

Re: I am disappointed about beovision 8
Sorry to read about your disappointment, Scognamiglio! I'm also a BV8 owner (26" version), and I'm very pleased with the set. I wonder whether it could be your signal? Or else a faulty set? For reasons I won't touch upon in detail, I had a world of reasons to really dislike this television (B&O never liked any of the suggestions I made for marketing it before it was launched!) But I liked the set from the moment I saw it as a prototype, and decided to get one when they reached market. I have a solid quality digital (non-HD) STB supplying a signal, as well as a DVI-to-HDMI cable from my Mac to the set. Both result in excellent images, with no pixellation or artefacts and great image resolution ... I've run HD resolution signals to the set from the Mac, and that's flawless. I'd look into the quality of your signal - I had my cable company go over all the wiring and connectors, and that resulted in a most noticeable improvement.

Buon anno anche per te, Massimo. A mint condition BV5 for 6300€ is a great deal, I think. Would you trade in your BV8 or move it to the bedroom? Can that BV5 be upgraded to be HD-Ready? IMO, this offer really is worth thinking about.
