The OS underneath really doesn't have much to do with the potential development prospects of the application layer, nor should you even need to know or care what it is. B&O may well have developed an application framework that allows them to use the same code base on both platforms.

On the contrary, I'd expect the Linux platform might become a problem for any proprietary Microsoft codecs - not that it'll be any easier for anything from Apple. I'd hope this to be a move towards open standards such as FLAC, it'll be better for everybody in the long run.

Re: Encore = Linux?

So Encore is the way to go as it is the future ... there wont be too much updates for the old windows xp based system?

Re: Encore = Linux?

Nio:

What I am asking:

BeoSound 5 uses Windowx XP and BeoSound 5 Encore uses Linux?

I believe so .... there was another thread from last week that announced this

Re: Encore = Linux?

What I am asking:

http://dk.linkedin.com/in/munklinde

It states:

Head of Department in R&D software
Daily management of 25 highly skilled engineers.
High level multi-site project management, with 3 scrum teams in-house,
and several external teams, some placed abroad.
Head of the software project for the new Beosound 5 Encore audio
product, and the new linux-based audio software platform

Which means there is a new linux-based audio software platform at B&O ... what will it be?
