When using an HDMI connection, you can use ANY AV source and are not limited to AV5. This is useful to be able to close the top door on the BeoSystem 3, which is blocked when connecting cables to AV5 or AV6.

Re: Using Beomaster 5 with a Beosystem 3.

Thanks, Trip. That's exactly what I needed to know. My dealer was under the understanding that it would not be controlled by a Beosystem 3, but he was uncertain.

The output of the BeoMaster 5 is DVI-I, but would a DVI-D to VGA adapter work? The adapter fits but has less male pins than the DVI-I female port on the BeoMaster 5.

I have a couple of weeks until my new BeoSystem 3 arrives and wanted to be preparing.

Re: Using Beomaster 5 with a Beosystem 3.

Beojeff,

The monitor used has nothing to do with the setup. It will work just fine.

As for connections, the BeoMaster 5 uses the VGA cable in AV5 as well as audio & ML.

Re: Using Beomaster 5 with a Beosystem 3.

Hi, logic would suggest any of those combinations would work so long as you run ML as well.

Using Beomaster 5 with a Beosystem 3.

Can anyone confirm if a Beomaster 5 can be controlled by a Beosystem 3 that's using a non-B&O screen? Also, what connection is used? DVI to HDMI or DVI to VGA or component to component? I hate to use up one of the Beosystem 3's HDMI inputs for the Beomaster 5.
