It's not very bright but every color ist ok.
I'm gonna check it out at the store, too ;-)

The TV Problem is solved, it was the wrong option, now it stays off when I press N.Music.

Next issue:

How should the BS 5 behave (as a slave unit) when I press "N.Music" on my remote? Should it turn on like the BS 3000?

I'm just "fiddling" around with this baby and the main unit is not worth the money in terms of build quality: When I insert the power cable for the BS 5 control unit, the backplate moves ... that's realy bad for a 2500 Euro Aluminumcase!

The table stand of the BS 5 is not 100% balanced. Try to touch the left side of the display (for example when cleaning it) and it moves/rolls.
So I had to tell my wife that I will clean it myself ;-)

Re: Beosound 5 with Beosound 3000: No Sound

The ring at the volume wheel is fully blue lit when you turn the wheel. You should be able to control the volume via the wheel.

Option setting in your set up should be: BS5 - no audiomaster, BS3000 (with speakers) option 2, Beovision (?) option 0.

In my set up the BV7-40 and BS9000 are activated in N.MUSIC mode, when pressing N.MUSIC. TV screen is black. Stand is in audio position.

I had problems with the display too. You can check it by connecting another display to the DVI output of the BM5, maybe a BV7. BTW the display looks great on a BV7-40. In my case it was a faulty DVI cable that let the display look a lit dark and yellow - color blue was missing. We changed the cable and everything is ok now.

I dont quite understand all your issues but one, If I can help is that once you turn the volume wheel, it is normal for the BS5 to fully light-up into a blue half-circle when the BS5/Bm5 is slave to another system.

The same thing happens when the BS5 is connected to a BV and the loudspeakers to the Bv in the same room.

I would scan through the forum pages if you have not already done so. I'm sure there is reference to a BS5/BS9000/BV set-up somewhere. This sounds like in concept to be the same as yours.

hope that helps.

thank you for your help. BS 5 was set to audiomaster. No I can hear s.th.
Only the volume wheel stays fully lit; I think I'll try it as stand alone with one speaker attached to control if everything is ok.

But everytime I hit "N.Music" on the remote my TV turns on ... wow, I just love experimenting with those toys ff

Is this an "option thing", too?

Oh, and I think the display is not very bright, is this normal? Or does it self adjust? It looks very decent and I remember that the unit in the shop had a brighter display ... Think I have to chech that out or is there any way to change brightness?

Re: Beosound 5 with Beosound 3000: No Sound

I also *think* that in this configuration (BS3000 is audiomaster/BS5 is not audiomaster), the volume is only controlled via the BS3000. Make sure the BS3000 is not muted or set very low. Alas, I don't have one to test, but this is what I remember reading.

I've just installed my Beosound 5 but it doesn't work like I want it to work ;-)

Setup:

Beosound 3000 (with N.Music Update) connected via Masterlink to the Beosound 5. The speakers are attached to the Beosound 3000.

When I touch the volume wheel on the Beosound 5 it is fully lit (looks like I have choosed maximum volume ) but doesn't react. It stays full when I touch this.

I can't hear anything through my speakers.

The systems is acutaly NOT connected to the internet.

Any hints where I made the mistake?

BS 5 is set to Option 1
I tried it with option 0, too, but it doesn't work either.

btw:
There where about 10 albums preinstalled on my BS 5.
