You need to change the file 27.BeoSound8.xml in the folder ...\Bang & Olufsen\Beo5 Configuration Tool\Products\10.Audio\20.BeoSound:

stProductType="audio" to stProductType="accessories"

Then the BeoSound8 will place itself in accessories and the tool will not require a new zone. Please note that you can't add the modified to a zone without a B&O product.

Find the alternative xml file on my profile page

Re: BeoSound 8 and Beo5/6

Thanks,

I got it working by letting the Config Tool create a new Zone, which I then hid. I was able to copy the "DOCK" to Zone 1 (Home) buttons, and it works. The other Zone is completely invisible, but BeoSound 8 still works with all the other buttons on the same screen.

Don't exactly know how I did it -- trial and error -- but now I have everything under Beo5 control, and can hide the "buck remote" that came with BeoSound 8.

I hope at some point B&O releases a more user-friendly and modern version of the Config Tool, and also decide to distribute it to clients who like to tweak their remotes.

I can't help you with the config.tool, however I know that BeoSound 8 only replies to "DOCK" or "NRADIO" commands with Beo4. Therefore it cannot act as an audio master (replying to RADIO commands for instance). That may explain the issue you have.

BeoSound 8 and Beo5/6

Looking for some help again...

I'd like to include BeoSound 8 in Beo5, in the same Zone where my BeoVision 10 is.

However, when I add the device in the Config Tool, the software wants to create another Zone for BeoSound 8.

Since BeoSound 8 is at the moment the only B&O audio product in the same room as BeoVision 10, I'd like them to operate in the same Zone.

How can this be achieved with the Config Tool?

Thanks for any advice!
