Gary,

The Virgin Media + I previously provided you with uses RC5 protocol and a carrier of 36 KHz which is standard for RC5

The Carrier Frequency can be changed in the XML file, but first you need to determine what frequency it actually is. If you know what protocol it is using then we can make a good assessment. For example if it is NEC protocol then the carrier frequency is always 38 Khz. If it is a Sony product then most are 40 Khz.

Sony Trinitron uses standard Sony 40 bit protocol with a Carrier Frequency of 40 Khz

Thank you ever so much Weebyx For the sony lcd codes but they did not work, the sony trinitron xml works but its so old it doesnt have any hdmi selection:(

is there any way i can edit my xml file and change the carrier freq for the virgin media stb

or is it much more difficult in practice.

Change carrier frequency on virgin +, is there any software out there that does this?

Third and final problem which i can live without, when i add "video 1" to a macro i'm prompted with "string is too long" message and does not add this key to the macro, and when i try to rename the key it deletes the ir coding from it and replaces it wit "50ms" so just a gap.

Is there not a way to use my logitech remote to learn ir codes? the only problem is that it keeps all its files on a server i believe.

You should not change the Carrier Freq on the box, it should be done in your XML file, so you need to find out what freq the box uses.

Gary,

What you have found has come from the Lintronic web site and are Lintronic code sets.

The first 3 digits define the code set in question with 717 being for Sony and 716 being defined as an NEC protocol. The following digits are the associated parameters and are used by the Lintronic boxes firmware.

If you have purchased a Lintronic converter box, then you would use these codes and you can also capture your original remote codes and convert them into an XML file.

just wondering if anybody else is experiencing really poor range on their 3rd party products especially my virgin media box.

I have made all the usual checks ( not in dealer mode) and have even replaced the display on it today but the range is still only about 2ft at its best mainly on the virgin media.
