Config tool 3.87 contains FW 1.43a for the Beo5. I have just downgraded to 1.42a because the new FW contains(in my view) a big error.

Here is what happened with my Beo5.

With FW 1.43a the LCD backlight slowly rises from dark to bright when you turn on the remote, this is the problem. In a very bright room(i have very large windows in my living room) what happens is that i use the Beo5, and the screen is dark, then the backlight slowly(3-5 seconds) rises until it is bright, and the remote buttons is readable, when the remote the turns off, and i turn on the remote again(when zapping channels) the LCD display starts on the highest brightness(and this is good) for 1 second, then dims totally and the rises again, so for about 3-5 seconds the display is not very readable.

Has anyone notices this with the latest firmware ? Also to say, i don't recommend updating the Beo5, until this issue is fixed, i have told this to my dealer, and he has passed it on to B&O.

If you have this issue and is tired of it, you can uninstall the 3.87 tool(take backup of the client library), install the 3.59 version and modify the Beo5CT.exe.config file with the following.

replace

<add key="Beo5RevD.bin" value="1.42a" />
<add key="Beo5RevE.bin" value="1.42a" />
<add key="Beo5RevF.bin" value="1.42a" />
<add key="Beo5RevG.bin" value="1.42a" />

With

<add key="Beo5RevD.bin" value="1.44a" />
<add key="Beo5RevE.bin" value="1.44a" />
<add key="Beo5RevF.bin" value="1.44a" />
<add key="Beo5RevG.bin" value="1.44a" />

Then the config tool will install the FW(next time you sync the Beo5 with your configuration) that comes with 3.59, which is 1.42a, and viola all backlight issues is gone :)
