Assuming everything that you wish to control is in the same room, then the best way to setup the first screen is actually name the zones TV, DVD, Radio, Video, Light, volume up and down and standby and another TEMP zone where you actually produce the setup you want. Subsequently move the elements of your completed setup in TEMP to each zone.

Buttons like "RETURN" can be added manually and Volume up and down can be created on one page and then copied where required.

I suggest as a first step you draw each page as you think you want to see them and then try it out.

Re: By passing hard keys on beo 5 screen by programming.

Ok that is very helpfull info.

This is the set up BC 1 with beo1 . Beo 1 and beo 4 give handeling problems. I recently tested Beo4 with him and although the beo4 is good for its text buttons the person is getting confused by volume and square arrowed buttons.

Here is what i think I need the beo5 to do:

Layers of touch screens that guide him in the most simple way through logical possibilities when choices are made without using the hardkeys. Maybe even hardkeys of beo5 locked so when pressed they cant interfere with the touchscreen.

I have this in mind, but welcome all idea`s /solutions etc.

Possible set up beo 5

* I need a first screen which has only touch buttons for TV,DVD,radio, video, light, volume up / down, shut of system.

* next screen should give touch icons for tv channels when tv is choosen. Or radio channels. Or controls DVD/video/light

* on all screens should be volume and shutoff. Maybe a return button.

I am not sure if or how you should incorporate the beo4 square buttons into text touch screen buttons ( maybe they arent essential for daily use.

All info / idea`s on templates are highly apreciated.

Maybe a question for keith;

Is it possible to by pass the hard keys settings by programming the beo 5 in such a way all controls show up on the touch screen ?

And can be used from there.

A dealer I asked thought it wasnt possible. Im looking for a remote solution / option for someone who is has memory problems.

So navigation should be somewhat guided by templates of choices. The beo5 screen seems a good visable option but the small hard keys are however too small for this person to handle.

Stan has provided you with the correct answer. Any hardkeys can be reproduced as soft keys on the screen

If you're also asking whether hardkeys can be disabled, then from my experience, "yes" (although, in my case, this was not what I wanted )... but luckily, you can turn them back on.

The only qualification that I have to the above is the use of the word "any". Perhaps there are some exceptions. I'm sure Keith will know.
