I am pleased to inform you that I now have an XML file for the Western Digital TV for you to test, but I expect it to work.

Those commands such as UP & Down etc are assigned to the hardkeys

I have done a little more research this afternoon and I can now confirm that this code uses NEC protocol which is what I had previously guessed and provided as a XML file.

However, it is now much clearer that Western Digital may have translated the function and inverted function code incorrectly, This is HEX word 5 of the Pronto code.

So, we now know that Western Digital has used a non standard leadin code of 900A to represent NEC.

I will look at word 5 & 6 and see how they have defined them and gte back to you.

All we need to do is establish what protocol Western Digital are using as I am not familiar with the Pronto code you had found on its web site.

As Frank said, you don't need a Lintronic box to capture an IR signal, there are many options and I only need one command capture to establish the protocol.

If you have a Windows Mobile or PocketPC lying around you could get a low-cost solution for capturing IR codes within RemoteControl II software. Search for it in this forum, worked for me.

Hey Again keith , nope afterall didnt bought the lutron ir converter so i cant send you the timings ... so i guess we are at a dead end .. hmm any other ideas that might help ?

I am sorry it did not work, but I was guessing at the protocol used which clearly was incorrect.

Do you have the opportunity to capture one command from the original remote and send me the timing, then I can be certain about the protocol used ?

Hmm interesting seems thats why i was having so many problems with those.... i assume more peps are using WD TV so the decoding of those would be usefull for all ;) ill be waiting then for ur conclusion ^ thnx in advance keith ;)

Whilst the codes you have found are valid Pronto codes, most found on the web are "Learn't codes

If you have a learn't code, then the first word of the code string will always be "0000" if the signal is modulated and "0100" if unmodulated

If it is non zero, then it is a defined protocol or a proprietary defined by a vendor like Western Digital

Defined protocols include:-

0000 Learned code format (modulated)
0100 Learned code format (unmodulated)
5000 RC5 code format
5001 RC5x code format
6000 RC6 code format
6001 RC5 mode A code format

Code "900A" is new to me, so we can assume at this stage it is a Proprietary defined code, but can still be decoded, but will take a little longer.

What seems surprising is it uses two different carrier frequencies which is unlikely, but not impossible.

I will decode it cover the next couple of days and get back to you.
