I checked the remote again. It says serial no: 20504***, Software 1.20a, last configuration 18-06-2007. I also checked the counters. they say 519h "on time" but only 2h "active time".

What did I get? Can so look up for me how old th unit is by checking the serial please.

It was found that 3rd party products with short or narrow infra-red receiver range would not work correctly. This particularly effected non AV products such as air-conditioning and curtain control.

The last update to the Beo5 Configuration tool version 2.20 provided firmware version 1.40a plus some code handling facilities in the tool to handle this issue.

A hardware update replaced one of the infra-red diodes with one that matches the narrow reception angle of some systems. Both a 850 nm and a new 950 nm infra-red diode are being changed.

So, either get the latest hardware version or have your unit upgraded by having the board replaced.

Re: New BEO 5?

If you press st.by and go, you get to SETUP menu, press 0, 0, go and you get the SERVICE menu.
I was reading that the softwaretool would update, that's fine, but I still don't want to have a old hardware. I am most interrested to know if there are different hardware versions of the beo 5 and how to detect that
