So how do i do if i have a MacMini hidden in a closet and i want to controll this with the Beo5 - and not using the PUC code loaded onto my BV9 as this limits me to only the 5 Apple Remote buttons in the PUC and i wanted to use the Beo5's extra buttons to send commands from keyboard (like letters C, I, X, M etc) - to controll the Plex movie program.......

do i need to buy a "ir extender" to pull from the mini closer to the front of the BV9 or is there a way to let the BV9 send "raw" data of the IR commands it would receive from the Beo5?

In the folder where you choose products in the Beo5 tool, you can find another folder called others, and here you will find Home Automation. All these PUC codes you can add to your Beo5, and these PUC codes will send the original IR to your 3.rd party product. So you don't need a IR cable between the TV and 3rd party product. And you don't have to add the PUC to the TV.

Big interest for me too : my dealer was unable to configure PUC of my BV8-40 for Apple TV : sometimes the command does not make anything, sometimes the command send a "never-ending" signal to the AppleTV... even by pressing the touch once !

I think I will have to contact my dealer. I am afraid I will not find the time to dig in this specific "IR code" matter.

You could use the PUC and B&O have offically stated that in future all IR codes added to the PUC will be added to the Beo5. However to date that has not been achieved.

With regards to the Mac Mini, as far as I am aware this has not been offically added to the PUC, so I would expect that it has been created and added by your dealer.

The Service Tool used by your dealer to update the PUC has DEC files which contain the IR codes for each non B&O product, unfortunately these files are in a totally different format to the XML files used with the Beo5. Nevertheless these DEC files hold ALL the necessary IR information required to create an BEO5 XML file provided you know how to translate it.

So, you could get your dealer to update your PUC and then it would work with the Beo4 or Beo5 or you could find out if they have converted it into a Beo5 XML file. I would however say that the cleanest solution would be to use the PUC.

The other day i've seen in a B&O store here a sales person controlling an apple tv connected to a BV 7-40 via PUc. With a Beo4 this setup supported fast scrolling. He was discussing with another customer and I was in a hurry, so I could not ask for technical details, but if it is possible with Beo4 it should no problem with Beo5 as well. Would you recomend to switch to that PUC mediated solution rather than controlling the Mac mini directly with Beo5?

The current Beo5 firmware will allow the support for fast scrolling, but no 3rd party XML files currently on the Beo5 download section have it implemented yet.

In a future release of the Beo5 3rd Party XML Generator we do intend to add this functionality, but right now we cannot offer it.

Hello to all experts,

I've installed the Apple Macbook XML from the Beo5 website to control frontrow on my Mac Mini (thanks to the uploader). In principle it works fine. The only issue is that it does not support fast scrolling which is a major problem if you want to browse lists with hundreds or thousands entries.

This issue was already discussed earlier here and in the main forum in the "beo 5 - where are we" thread, however I could not find a solution there.

Any idea how to solve the problem?
