Hi Oliver,

The IR transmitter in the Beo5 is more powerful than the one in Beo4. Without knowing about your distances and line-of-sight issues in your home you might be experiencing that the IR reaches more TV's at the same time. Try to cover the IR receiver of the upstairs TV to see if that changes anything. That way you can easily find out if it is a line-of-sight problem.

Your set up requires option 2 for the downstairs zone and option 6-0 for the upstairs zone. If you only had a TV upstairs it could have been set to option 4 which would require the use of LINK on Beo4 to operate the remote (on Beo5 it will be set automatically when configuring the set up). When you have both a BS9000 and a BV7, then option 6-0 is the right solution (if speakers are added to BS9000, then option 5-5 would be the right solution).

The options are:
- 0 : No IR receiving (operates via local keys or ML)
- 1 : Master receiving IR for it's own type (TV accepts TV/Video only etc.).
- 2 : Matster receiving all IR (TV accepts both TV and Radio commands).
- 3 : Not used.
- 4 : Link product receiving all IR sent with LINK active (used for link product in main room).
- 5 : Link product receiving IR for it's own type (for use in link room not visible from main room).
- 6 : Link product receiving all IR (for use in link room not visible from main room).

The difference on option 1 and 5 is, that the product knows if it is master or link product. In IR terms they are "identical" and will both react in the same way when pressing e.g. TV on the remote. That is why line-of-sight should be prohibited between main room and link rooms. Option 4 allows an additional TV or radio in the main room.

On the options front:

Option 0 turns the IR eye off

Option 1 allows the device to respond to commands directed to it - audio commands for an audio master and video commands for a video master - used when there are two active eyes in the same room - one video and one audio.

Option 2 allows the device to receive both audio and video commands

Option 4 makes the device require the command Link to be pressed before it will respond - useful if two systems can be affected by the same remote.

Option 5 - same as option 1 but for a link room

Option 6 - same as option 2 but for a link room

Once you download the file, change the .pdf extension to .exe and it will then open.

I could only open the first 'PDF' one, the others seem to be corrupt. I cannot see how new or old it is. I had that already anyhow and it suggests 6 and 2 as I set it already. So I will have to rdeuce the IR Power

Hi I upgraded but I cannot find the guide you are talking about just a third party XML generator which I do not understand how to use?

I think it takes most Debit/Credit cards, but I don't think it likes American Express (though that might be fixed now)

Oliver, I can't help much, but if you upgrade to silver or gold status, you can then download the Product Configuration Guide. It's a great little program, you just tell it what products you have, and in which rooms, then it tells you how to wire them up, what options to put everything in and how to set everything up.
As for the Beo5, yes it is a powerful remote, but I doubt if it can penetrate the floor to the room below. More likely that is happening through the masterlink cable.

You can switch the Beo5 in Dealer Mode, so the range of the IR is not that good. Press the Standby button plus Go. You will see the service Menu. Press 0,0,Go and you will see the function Dealer Mode. You can try it.

So I think 5 is right and not 6, 4 I do not understand properly. But I tested 5 and it does produce the same error, the BV5 upstairs may turn on as well. Maybe 4 which I do not understand but also do not understand which of the 2 need to be 4, sounds like the upsatirs one?
