&lt;p&gt;The BS3200 in our home is one of the first models. The harddrive does make some noise in between songs. I can hear this because the unit is placed on ear level 50cm near my seat.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;/blockquote&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Ahh, yes! &amp;nbsp;Last year, as I was seeking to upgrade from our BS2300 to something more easily compatible with our BeoPort, BL2000 and BL3500, I visited the dealer to find that the BS3000 had been discontinued and was no longer available. &amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Having replaced many a hard disk at home through the years to get quieter ones, and cognizant of the fact that most drives grow noiser as they age, I questioned the dealer&amp;#39;s assurance that disk drive noise was a non-issue. &amp;nbsp;I lurked around the beoworld forum archives and searched high and low and only once did I find a comment with regard to drive noise... seemed to be not much of an issue. &amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Still, my discomfort with the BS3200&amp;#39;s hdd remained. &amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;In any case, I was fortunate to find... a BS3000 in its box that someone had kept stored for some reason. &amp;nbsp;It is several years old but came pristine and has served us well for half a year now.&lt;/p&gt;
