I have found the service manual - quite detailed and a fair amount of detail about the tape mechanism. You will need to join as a silver or gold member to access it. Let me know if you plan to join as I will make it a priority to scan it! It will take an evening!

I'll have a look of the recorder later this evening. Just to check how it looks like. I have opened the cover when changed the lamps but prefered not to touch the tape part. :)

I have been waiting for a strong reason to join as a silver or gold member, and I guess this would be one. I'll check it out. So I guess I would be joining soon, so the manual would be needed. No hurry! It's otherwise completely working (I did changed some lamps) but there seems to be some small troubles. Sometimes when playing a tape there is some "metallic" noise, that sounds like there were something touching the flywheel (sometimes it slows the playback speed down) and it's released by swithcing pause on and off.

Also I would like to know if the tape deck has a belt-driven mechanism or not. The reason is that the fast forward is very slow and usually stops after some twenty seconds. If it has no belt I would like to know how should I try to fix it. It might be just dirt in the rollers, in that case the question is should I open the case from the top or from the bottom. The rewind is fine.

Thanks in advance!
