Thanks for the reply. I did not phrase the question as well as I might have! I know what shift does on my Beolink and can pick up the feature on the BEO4. I am more concerned about hidden features so as A.Aux and what the other numbers do. I have an MCL2AV that I am trying to control and am hoping that someone else may have come across some useful codes.

Most if the time, you will not need Shift on the Beo4.

Shift + Radio on the Beolink 1000 = A.AUX in the list of the Beo4.

So you can do A.AUX 6 instead.

I once needed "Shift" to configure my DVD1 to work with a AV Expander 2 as I had to press Shift 2.

I have posted this thread on the vintage products site - but as the Beo4 control is not yet 25 years old am trying to see if I can obtain a response here!

Does anyone know what shift controls on a BEO4 ? In one of my manuals for the BEO4 in the Lexicon section (page 14) it states

" Shift is for operating certain functions relating to other recent B&O remote controls. Press 0, 3, 6, 7 or 9 to do so. For B&O professionals only."

Shift Radio 6 and Shift Radio 7 (on a Beolink 1000) control the MCL2AV CD and tape inputs - but what do 0, 3 and 9 do? Also does Shift XXX 6 or 7 work anything else?
