Nice refurbishment of your Beovox 3702 speakers...cool grill covers. I've never heard that model. Are they similar to the S45.2 speakers? I have to say I really like your work on the cabinet refinishing. Both on these speakers and on Beomaster 4000.

Similar but older, 3 way as the 45-2 but a bigger bass driver I think

Paint will peel of when putting on/off the frets, for grill fabric look here

Yeah, I didn't want to make the attachment permanent yet. A further improvement might involve redoing the grill cloths. The reason I say that is because with with grill cloth removed I believe I would be able to see the bolt on the other side. That being the case, it might be an improvement on the fix to install a nut for the bolt from the grill cloth side. However, the fit is really tight right now and it is removable so I kind of like that option. I am wondering if the the plastic wall peg part should be painted charcoal gray or black?

The 10mm cut piece of #14 wall plug is then screwed on to the hex bolt. That whole assembly is screwed into the hole I drilled where the original grill plug was. I started the the new grill plug by hand, then used the hex wrench to tighten...just snug not too tight.

Good solid mecanical work, done the way I like it, compliments.

Maybe fix the bolt to the frame with a little epoxy, on the other hand, if it holds without epoxi, it is easier to repair if it comes loose.

This picture shows the grill re-attached and a snug fit. There is no play in the grill at all. It fits nice and tight. I'll see how this works out. I didn't use any glue in this fix. You still have to be careful with the grills as it is still mounted with a plastic base. But under normal use I don't think these new grill plugs will break any time soon.

Here is a picture of the pieces needed for the new grill peg. The #14 wall plug fits perfectly in the speaker mounting hole. All that is needed from the wall plug is about 0.4 inches or 10mm (in length). The support hardware for the new grill plug is a #4 metric hex head bolt that is 16mm in length.

After the hole for the new grill peg has been started I used a Dremmel tool mounting on the little Dremmel drill press set you can get for it to drill the to its final diameter.

Using the pointed hole punch tool, I carefully pushed and twisting into the grill peg base that remained. My intent was just to make a good mark for a drill bit. However, the tool easily pressed into the plastic. It also turns out that the plastic base that remained is not solid all the way through to the front.

With the grill peg cut off you can see an X outline where it used to be. I used that to determine a center point for making a hole for my new grill peg.

I really liked the posting a while back by Andy T (Jandyt) on his Beovox S120.2 refurbish project. I have a pair of S55 and S120.2 Beovox speakers that like most sets, have grill covers with some broken pegs. Today I decided to apply Andy's grill peg fix to my S55's. The first thing I ran into was finding the similar wall plug (called a wall screw in the US). I finally found one at Lowes but it was in a set of several sizes so I had to by the whole set. It was just as well since I wasn't 100% sure which size I would need. It turned out to be the largest size - #14. As I started to work on the first grill peg mount I discovered a different way of applying the fix. I am documenting it here.

To start with, I used a super thin trim saw I own to remove the broken grill peg - (you will probably notice that I skipped Andy's step where he cleaned the grill....I'll have to come back and do that)
