With
the STB controller on my TV (BV5) it came with one ir blaster (silver),
when I ordered the B&O splitter I had to ensure I got the gold
B&O blaster to ensure they worked.

I assume the internal connections
to the plug must be different. ie each blaster wired as "mono" but the splitter "stereo". so silver would only work on the left channel and gold on the right so that the STB controller separates the ir and only sends to the blaster that is set-up in the connections menu and actually attached to the item being controlled. (that's my simplistic low tech view of how it may work)

It may be just a gimmick to get you to buy B&O but I'm sure there's a valid reason for it.

The thing is: you're placing 2 (IR-) Leds parrallel and, unless they're ''equally paired'' (almost never is my guess) the one with the lowest threshold will give light and the other not.

Therefore, my bet is, even if the polarity is correct (which does matter), only one of the 2 will work....

You may try to put them in series though (if that works depends on the electronics ''driving'' the IR led).

STB-C IR cable: DIY y-adapter for two external devices

Hi specialists,

I made that one by my own so I cut the 3,5mm plugs of the two STB-C IR cables and soldered them to one common 3,5mm plug. Do I have to consider plus and minus when soldering one wire to ground and the other one plus or minus?
