&lt;p&gt;However,in many cases this can also be due to &amp;quot;dry&amp;quot; soldered connections in the power supply stages,particularly C12,adjacent to the main smpsu transformer&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;It&amp;#39;s well worth checking this,but make sure all power is disconnected before delving inside telly&amp;#39;s ,they are dangerous places!!!&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;After switching on (TV or Video/DVD), it drops back into standby mode after about 10-15 minutes.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Ideas?&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Is it worth repairing?&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;BTW - when it runs the picture is fine and in every other respect the TV is OK.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;He has given it to me, so shouild I get it fixed or take it to the City recycling centre?&lt;/p&gt;
