One was a Nak OMS-1A the other a Proceed CDP. In both cases the sound level was noticably higher than the output of the CD7000 and my CD5500. I was doing some taping of the Proceed, and on the Beocord 7000, where I'd normally set the recording level to around -6 or -8, the Proceed needed to be set all the way down to -14! (This is on the same cd)

I've never noticed such a huge difference in sound levels before from the AUX in jack, so I'm wondering where the difference is coming from. A few years ago I was testing the sound quality between the RCA out and the DIN out from the CD5500 and they were exactly alike, both in quality and in level (as you'd think).

I've also used a Sony DVD player on this jack and I've never noticed a huge discrepancy before.

Any thoughts as to what's going on? Do component line levels vary that much between manufacturers?

Thanks in advance!

btw, I'm not a technician, just an enthusiast, so I don't have an oscilloscope or anything!
