This is a classic problem for CD50 so you must've used wrong search words... most probably the loading belt has snapped. This might be the best thread with pictures:

Dillen should have replacement belts. The job is not very hard, but quite annoying. While you have the deck open you should clean and relubricate the mechanism, or the new belt might not do the job either.

Hello,

My CD50 decided to eat the CD. It does not open the tray, only giving a "snurring" sound for a while and then shuts off.

It plays the CD inside OK, but I'm getting a bit tired to this one.

Did a quick search, but wasn't lucky with a hit about similar problems.

So, how to get it open, and what to repair to avoid this prb?

//Edit: Maybe I'm just dumb. Must go home and try with the drive in standby, I'm not sure if I did that.

//Edit2: No, I'm not that dumb, it does not open even in standby. So does it need surgery to get the CD out?
