I have restored two BC9000s. You just need to be careful when it is opened. I recall some kind of strap that you fix the stay in to stop the top opening too far will easily break because it has perished. The heavy top can now move too far and may break/bend its mountings.

The recap is straightforward.

So it's finally happening, my beloved Beocenter 9000 CD player is starting to die. Some of you know that I finally solved the issue of the cracked plastic clamp cap, now I'm losing the whole thing. So a few nights ago, I put in a CD, closed the bay and pushed play on my Beolink 1000. The CD started spinning but no track numbers poped up on the display, then the CD stopped and the bay door opened, as if it didn't recognize that there was a disk inserted. I had given up hope until on Sunday when I give it one last shot. I pushed play and it played beautifully. Then last night I started a CD and half way through I start hearing pops and cracks from the speakers. At one point the CD stopped altogether. I'm pretty sure I need to replace the caps on the servo board (Martin, I think I need to a kit...HELP!) and I am hoping this will fix the issue.

So my question is this, has anyone actually recapped a CD board in a BC9000 and was it successful? I know there are better options out there that would probably be better than my BC9000, but I love this thing...it's like art to me.

Thoughts?
