The broken TV's are disposed of at our local recycling depot of course

And the cheapest way to get a remote seems to be with a broken TV! The price quadruples once the TV is removed from the deal

Obviously keep the remote (I guess 2802 already had a Beolink 1000 instead of the earlier video only V Terminal?). It will be useful if you get another piece of B&O kit, or you could just flog it on eBay to compensate for your troubles

Looks like a direct hit in the power supply, so almost every chip and transistor is gone.

In the UK I would say simply get another one. They sell for nothing these days and to get this one working will be complicated as you will probably have to replace far more than you think. Components will not be difficult to source in the main but it will be a laborious process.

If you are not skilled in electronics, this is not the place to start. I am afraid I would throw it away.

Hello,
I inhertited a Beovision TV set that got struck by lightning a few years ago.
Since I live in Asia, the closest shop (and only one in the country!) is located 750 km from here.
I thus would greatly appreciate if some experimented members could give me some clues as if there is any hope of getting this set to operate again, at reasonable cost. I'm quite ignorant of electronics but I couldn't resist opening the case. That way, I could locate a burnt fuse and a few melted components.. (picture attached).
So, a few questions that would help me:
- generally, does lightning cause irreparable damages? excessive expenses?
- are these components separately available for replacement or is a new entire card the only option?
- must the repair job be done by the brand staff only (750 km...)?
- are generally other areas of the set affected when struck?
- is the age of the set (around 20 years) an issue when looking for the parts?
- ...

Thanks for any message that would help me make a decision as what the next step should be :)
