I don't want to deflate your balloon of success on this, but understand that these modules are pretty reliable and don't fail willy nilly.

You need to check the passive components around the CPU, especially the capacitors, and replace the faulty ones, else the new CPU will fail again fairly soon.

Martin (Dillen) has capacitor kits, which I would recommend you install, especially since you're handy with your tools.

Also, the tone arm is stuck halfway over the record. It's not low enough to touch it, it's just stuco over it.

When i move it back to it's resting position, it moves itself back out over the record. Not by motor, but by tension.

Re: Beocenter 7000 just says "P"

Thanks for letting us know the results.

Sorry to ask this, but have you tried with a record on the platter ?
The deck will not start without a record.
Are the transport safety screws released ?

The only problem i have now is the tuntable seems to be stuck. I can hear the relay firing when i press the PH button, but the turntable does nothing.

Re: Beocenter 7000 just says "P"

The control module is specific to the Beocenter 7000.
One from a Beocenter 7002 might work too.
This is actually one of the better combined systems.

It doesn't have a protection circuit that can act this way.
The problem with yours is most likely that the CPU reset circuit is faulty.
Could be as simple as a capacitor, a diode or a transistor. That'll be C34, D6 and TR14
on the processor module behind the displays.
Rarer is a faulty processor but it does happen in which case you will have to find a
processor (or complete module) from a donor machine.
Worth doing.

I'm new here, but not so new to B&O. I grew up listening to a beocenter and i currently have a Beogram 1700 TT.

This weekend i picked up a Beocenter 7000 from a guy in town for a very very low price. I was really interested in the cabinet, and figured if i could get the system working it would be an added bonus. It came with the original recipts and all the service records. It even has the electrical diagrams (i assume the service manual).

As it stands the display just says "P" on the right side. None of the buttons work and the turntable does not spin. I assume it is locked up or in some sort of a protection mode.

I'm pretty adept at fixing things. I have a few pioneer receivers i have recapped and repaird (late 70's SX models). So i have no probelm taking it apart and going through it if that is what's needed. I just wanted to check here to see if anyone had any insight into the "P" on the display.

Thanks for your help!
