I have just modded a BM2400-2 with LED's on all the RED lights (except for the 2 Volume lights).

Not a simple job, in fact a lot of research in redesigning the circuit, but the results are very good.

Actually the Phono, Tape and P1-5 lights were originally designed to work with LED's, according to the datasheet of the SAS570S driver. B&O made an (IMHO) unnecessarily complicated circuit to run them off incandescents. I have retained the signal going into the IL1 fault circuit.

The 3 Green lights cannot be converted to LED's without a major redesign, and even if I had the time and inclination to develop the mod, it would be beyond the scope of most of the readers here. And, my primary objective in designing these mods, is to make them friendly enough for any of the members who are reasonably proficient with a soldering iron, to be able to understand them, and install them with ease, and have fun doing it!

Anyway 5 incandescents are much easier to replace, than 15!

I'll be posting a full article once the restoration is completed, including full instructions on how to make these mods. This of course, applies to the BeoMaster 1900 as well.

Welcome to Beoworld !

LED's are good for many things, but they will disturb the functions of
a Beomaster 1900/2400, the same way wrong wattage (or blown/missing) lamps will
since some functions of the Beomaster depend on lamp currents etc.

Replacing all the lamps in one go is generally a good idea. The vibrations from servicing the Beomaster
and handling the lamp boards will almost certainly break more lamp filaments since they tend to become
brittle with age and use.
You will also get equal lamp life and equal light output from fresh lamps and that will simply look best.

A lamp kit exists for the Beomaster 1900 and 2400 models, containing a full
set of fresh lamps of correct type and wattage (plus a spare).
The kit also includes (dis-)assembly instructions.

Hi there I am trying to breath new life into a Beomaster 2400-2 which was given to me by my dad, when the unit was given to me I have noticed that several of the function selection lights on the front panel of the unit are burnt out, I have opened the unit and tested continuity of the bulbs to find out they are simply burnt out. I would like to replace all the bulbs since I have the unit opened up now.

Would somebody be able to tell me the wattage of the bulbs required to replace the burnt out ones, I have looked at the original schematics of the unit and have found that the voltage appears to be 15v...I just need to find out the wattage so I can pickup replacement bulbs. I was also wondering if LED's can be used in replacement of the original style bulbs... as LED's tend to last a lot longer.

Someones help would be so much appreciated as I have wanted this system from my dad since I was a little kid, am very excited to breath new life into it.
