You were right...........there's a spring that had detached on the white lever which I've now reattached and it plays...........sort of. It doesn't quite reach the vinyl on a 45 and drops down too early so that needs adjustment somehwere plus the sound isn't great - sort of distorted on any volume so I'm guessing the MMC4 has had it? It looks ok to the eye but the fact it's been knocking about in the players workings won't do it any good plus it's age. I guess it's one for Axel? I haven't had a turntable in years so it's a learning curve for me. Fun to be digging out my old vinyl collection though.

Must go and pack now....

Re: Beogram 9500 damage

Thanks Mika.

Fredrik. Appreciate the picture- it helps enormously. Thank you

I'm going away tomorrow at 4am for a week so will attack it on my return. At least I'll go away knowing there's hope for an easy fix for my minor disaster!

Re: Beogram 9500 damage

Hi Stonk

Remembered that I have an internal pic of a BG4500 which is identical to BG9500.

Number 2 in the pic shows the plastic lever tournedos describes. I hope this can be helpful to you.

I seem to recall that either that lever, or the tracks of the carriage had some kind of snap-on fixings instead of screws, and they might have popped off.

Sounds quite fixable to me, but you'll need to open it up to see what the exact mess is...

Beogram 9500 damage

I should know better.....

Having recently re-introduced my father to B&O with a BC9500 he asked me if could source a BG9500. See a collection only on eBay far away but looks good and I ask the seller would he be prepared to post it following my packing instructions should I win the auction. No problem.

I won it and gave strict packing instructions following others guidelines on here. He did a fantastic job too. However, even though the stylus arm had stiff foam under it and taped down with masking tape the mmc4 was missing! I didn't ask him to remove it only flip the needle cover down. I found the MMC4 floating around the unit and reattached it to the arm - which promptly drooped down so the stylus touched the surface. I have pwered it up with a vinyl in place and the arm tracks as if to play but the arm stays down Without the cartrige it does float up. I have tried adjusting the slider which makes no difference.

I'm not sending it back to the seller because it was my insistance to post it. I can't see how this had happened - the platter was removed and he must have spent ages packing it. Before I start pulling it apart does anyone know what the problem could be?
