Hello,

Almost year is past and now I have again time to start to try fix my BC.

I'm still figthing with this problem...

All capasitors are changed, thanks for Martin. Now I did resolder them and CD was working fine..... but then again back to the start.

Mayby there is somewhere some other cold solder...

Have you got the thin ribbon cable to the laser block correctly seated in the connector ?
- And undamaged ?

In CD-test mode BEO gives code F.2 for test 2 (focus moving and some light in laser) and F.4 for test 4 ( CD rotate but no radial searching). All other tests working.

Could be cracked solder joints at the voltage regulator(s)
with the small cooling fins at the bottom center board next to the CD deck.

Any ideas?

Have you tried cleaning the optics? They may have dusted up a bit when you're tinkering around in the unit.

Now those capasitors are changed... but still problems.

1) WILL SPIN, TRY TO FOCUS, DISPLAYS TRACK NUMBERS, DOESNT PLAY

2) AS ABOVE, BUT DOESNT DISPLAY NUMBERS

3) TRYS TO SPIN, TRY FOCUS, THEN THEN DOOR OPENS READY FOR ME TO TAKE THE CD OUT.

Maybe there is also problem like here:

Hello,

I finaly did got my BC to my place.

Cd unit is CDM 4/24 and here is photo of servo board. I hope with this information is enough to get new capacitor kit.

Just to close this case from my side. Got the cap kit and made the fix.

Now the Beocenter is back in business!!!

The cost of a CDM kit is typically in the EUR 12 range and that includes packing/postage.
It's not uncommon for me to offer a free kit in exchange for information on boards and machines not already
documented, as many of you will know.

...and that is a very reasonable price for not having to hunt several sources, and getting components that are known to be fit for the purpose.

I can also testify that attempting the repair without the correct type of C2103 will be time & money wasted.

However, it is commonly known that capacitor kits, lamp kits, belt sets and other service kits exists for
many purposes, though mainly for 1965-1990 audio stuff.
The kits I can supply are put together by me and are available only from me.
The kits are put together only for convenience to other repairers and owners wanting to - and capable of doing their own repairs.

After diagnosing the same faults many times and answering the same questions endlessly, a kit is often put
together. Telling the owner to grab a kit to solve the problem leaves me with more time for other repairs
and diagnoses to other and more stubborn faults.
Keeping the wonderful B&O things going is a hobby for me and has been so for more than 30 years.
I am not running a business and I am not making any money on the kits.

It's not a secret either which components B&O (read: Philips) put in the CDM boards but it's not that easy to make
an exact capacitor list because the Beocenters 8x00 and 9x00 (and Beogram CD3500/4500 etc.) came with several
different CD decks and even more different servo board versions.
Kits exists for some versions, the ones I have come across and documented, and new kits can be put
together for versions not already documented.
Often, having the owner email photos and information is the only way to document boards that I may never
come across myself and it may help many others.

Seconded, or at least that should be discussed. I don't think this squiggling serves any purpose, just creates a lot of unnecessary traffic...
