just a line to thank you for your help regarding the beovision , well after all my pondering and delving into any documentation available "not much as it transpires" the problem turns out to be a simple dry joint on the power supply pcb around the smps area connections to the power supply pcb 4. "How shocked were we when the degausing kicked in ?LMAO, I nearly done one !!!, as a point of interest Danny the guy who found the fault noted one thing which might be of use to anyone reading this, because the pcb is double sided I hadent taken into account that the joint could be fully conductive on one side of the pcb and dry jointed on the other side of the pcb as was in this case around the diodes mounted on the metal heatsink "Duh " but its a stunning picture and great sound so smiles all round.

Thanks to all who have helped with the replys while i think of it ,it's an invaluable service and well worth the subscription fee which i gladly pay "much more willingly than the TV licence fee"!!!

Maurice, because you mention the pcb connectors and supply voltages i assume you have seen the inside of (this) tv before and are confident working on tv's.

The 140V is only present when the BV3 comes out of standby, otherwise it is around 8V which is there because you have the red light.

An easy start can be unplugging the tv (from the mains) and than do an Ohm-mesurement on the +140V line you mentioned, to check for any short circuits.(leave the connection between supply and defl pcb connected !!, only interrupt the +140V line)

Another test is to desolder a component on the deflection board which makes the +140V go to the HT transformer, so you actually disconnect the +B supply to the HT transformer.

And than you connect a bulb of 40Watts to the +140V (temp solder onto the quite big capacitor for the +140V based on the supply board).

If you try to switch on the tv now the bulb should glow (and you should be able to measure around 140V).

In this way you can already determine if the supply is the problem or the deflection board.

I have to be honest in saying i did this on an Avant RF which basically has the same chassis as the BV3 but i'm not totally sure if this should work on the BV3 (nevertheless worth a try.....at least if the bulb lights at 140V you can quite safely assume the supply is ok, but if it doesn't it may therefore not necessarily mean the supply is defective).

Hi Andy

ok i did the option change and the standby light did blink but no joy with the start up though but there is the faintest attempt at powering up, you can hear the speakers very slightly responding to the command, also ive seen the standby light turn green now, still no sound or vision though.

Hi Maurice. It may have been programmed to not respond to a remote control command.
If you have a Beo4 remote, press 'List' and 'Standby' together. then the up arrow untill the display on the remote says "Option?"
Press 'Go' and it should say "V Opt"
Press 2
The red LED on the Beovision should blink to acknowledge the new Option setting.

It might not be the problem, but worth a try. Good luck.

thanks for responding to my question, i'm not sure if i understand your reply it dosent actually opperate at all. eg no sound of the tube firing up and no sound at all how would i check for opt 0?

Maurice. Make sure it is not in Option 0. It may have been previously linked to an audio Master.

Hello And Help Again ! my beovision 3/32 type 8803, recently aquired on a certain auction site is in fantastic condition and i have a red led standby display which illuminates wonderfully, AND THATS IT!!! no sound or picture at all, firstly has any one any idears of the common faults for model , i think the problem wil be on powersupply pcb 4 but the 141+v @ p43 is missing to go to the deflection pcb 5 p49 any idears please? also any circuit diagrams for this would be most welcome i have a general block wiring diagram showing all the bcb's and cable connections (from this site) but no specific diagrams of each of the pcb's.

Why do i keep buying broken B&O is their a medical condition for this syndrome ?
