Rather dissapointing given the prices charged!

Problem solved

After downloading the pertinent service manual and checking the IR circuitry, I realized that the doors could eventually act as a reflector should there be dust or build up on the inside face of the doors.

Although the doors are frequently cleaned, it is most of the time on the outside.

And indeed, after removing the doors and cleaning the inside, the Ouverture works again as on the first day I bought it.

Well worth the money spent to be able to download the service manual.

The local B&O dealer told me yesterday it would take a minimum of 3 weeks to take a look at the system

Hope this can help someone

auric:

I thought there were ghosts in the house.

Shame on me. Forgot to consider this option.

On a more serious note, thanks Derek for this very valuable input as indeed, lightning technology may impact IR receivers.

However this is not the case here as nothing as been modified over the last years.

In addition, I also tested with daylight and same issue, also less frequently.

I forgot to mention this audio set up (BeoSound 4000 + BeoLab 6000) is installed in the bedroom. Hence this behaviour is a bit annoying during the night.

Try relocating the unit.

My doors started opening randomly one day. I thought there were ghosts in the house. Then I noticed that it only behaved as such when the floor lamp was on. Recently we replaced the incandescent bulb with a flourescent one. It doesn't like the light spectrum or modulation in the light.....

Just a thought!

Looking for a bit of help here.

My Ouverture goes back to 1997 (well, actually a BeoSound 4000, as I bought it in the US before moving back to Europe).

After years of flawless operation, it started a few months ago to demonstrate some signs of independance. i.e. the doors are opening up by themselves on a random basis. It looks as if the IR detection circuitry had got a life on its own. As time goes by, the rate at which the doors opened up increased and by now, they are almost stuck open 80% of the time.

Is there anything I could clean or check before going to a service center ?

Many thanks in advance for any hint.
