&lt;p&gt;Once you know what you are up against, everything is easy, isn&amp;#39;t it.&amp;nbsp; Following your instructions, I simply put the assembly in the vice and used two small penknives to prise both sides upwards at the same time.&amp;nbsp; There is no visual damage to the caps so I can now go ahead and clean everything properly.&amp;nbsp; Thanks again for your help.&lt;/p&gt;

Alternatively, use a small electronics sized cutter and bite just below the plastic top.&lt;br /&gt;The plastic tops are quite flexible and will take a lot of&amp;nbsp;abuse without breaking.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Remember to get the little brake pawls on the&amp;nbsp;correct side of the reel table flanges&lt;br /&gt;when you put it back in the Beocord.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;I have stripped down the tape decks on the BC9000 series but cannot remove the plastic reels.&amp;nbsp; Both of these in the picture are very sticky and need a proper clean and service.&amp;nbsp; I have tried to prise off the plastic cover on the top but so far, I only look like destroying the thing.&amp;nbsp; Can anybody advise me of the correct way to remove the reels without damaging anything.&lt;/p&gt;
