Yes, your failure is just about in the same place as mine so it must simply be a design weakness. The plastic section as far as I can remember actuates the limit switch by following an inclined metal track. It has to be able to follow both sides of the track so that it can return to the original position. You still have a decent length of plastic to hold a spring in place so you should be able to fix that one.

I think that the rubber section that you found is probably just a cable retainer - see photo below

Regards

This is exactly the same failure that my CDX have as you can see from the photo. Is the purpose of the original piece of plastic just to act as a spring, that returns the arm to its former position efter activating the microswitch? When I removed the mechanism out of the mainframe the little rubber thingst on the photo fell out, do you know where it belongs?

Welcome to BeoWorld, its a great forum for getting lots of useful information and having fun.

This thread goes back a long time now but the good news is that my CDX has continued to run faultlessly. Things get tricky when the plastic parts start to break up and you do need a certain amount of luck that the repair will hold together for a reasonable time.

The first photo that I have shows the assembly removed from the CDX and the white plastic section which had broken. This part is needed to activate one of the limits.

The second photo shows a close up of the broken plastic section and the spring insert that I made to replace the lower follower.

The final photo shows the spring clip in position and this arm was then able to make its limit properly.

Perhaps you could provide a photo of the broken part on your machine as that will help identify the problem that you have. You could then ask around to see if there are some spares available - obviously an easier solution compared with making up parts yourself.

Hope this helps

Regards

Geoff

Hi Geoff

Can you repost the pics of the arm? I am new here and I have a CDX in need of help. I have repaired the left hing but it looks like there is an arm beneath it that also is broken, but i can not find the missing piece so I am having a trouble repairing it. Any help on this issue would be appreciated.

Thanks.

It was fairly easy to bend but the dimensions had to be reasonably accurate. Luckily, I had a few pieces to work with because the first few attempts were messy. Finally, I got a piece to fit and the result is shown in the photo. The CDX has now been reassembled and all of the limits properly adjusted. It is now working perfectly so I thought that I would share a few ideas with others. When I first examined the unit it coughed and spluttered giving the impression that the limit switches weren’t so good. When it didn’t respond at all, a push in the top left corner did show some signs of life so there had to be some hope. Taking it apart, the first thing I noted was that the left hinge was cracked and I knew that I had seen a thread about that on Beoworld.
