I agree, but unfortunately the supply here is pretty short. And importing (just packaging and shipping) from UK would make another 500 pound hole in my pocket.

Maybe I just have to buy a MX5500 and wait still for another Avant to appear on local market.

The price sounds on the high side but not completely outrageous.

The brutal fact is that replacing the tube on a 28" does not make economic sense, it is much more cost-effective to buy another used Avant.

Hi,

I'd like to have some idea, what is the price for 28" Avant (not RF) type 8100, CRT price in other parts of Europe.

I called local B&O repair shop in Finland and the price seemed to be sky high. About a 1K EUR for the tube and around 500 EUR for the work.

Still no cheaper alternatives around?
