The original B&O CD's (actually Philips) are quite costly, I seem to remember in the 200£ range.

Martin

Re: Beosound Ouveture CD cable

Excellent, many thanks Derek. I'll try and get one of those.

Yeah I finally worked out that the adjustment was on the laser... and that was all that I needed to tweak to get it working again. Unfortunately that was *after* I'd broken the cable, so spent most of my time fixing that first! :)

Re: Beosound Ouveture CD cable

Ivor:

Do a search on Ebay for CDM 12. You will find entire mechanisms with the turntable and slide motor for around $20 bucks. These would be the "composite body" version of the CDM-12 but the parts are the same. Just buy the whole thing. While you are at it you can also replace the motors.

Derek

Re: Beosound Ouveture CD cable

Ivor:

The CD mechanism in the Overture manual is for a CDM 4. You likely have the CDM 12 (linear pick up) which is the updated mechanism.

( If someone has updated copy of the Overture manual, could you please upload it to the server? )

The laser current adjustment is made on the optical pick up. It is factory set for the optical pick up. There is no need to match it with the servo board.

I don't think the current level adjustment procedure applies to the CDM 12.

Derek

Re: Beosound Ouveture CD cable

ivor:

Hi,

I've just repaired a beosound ouveture but in the process managed to tear the delicate ribbon cable that goes from the CD controller board to the motor. Whilst fixing the CD unit I noticed that the controller board (PCB 8) on the right hand side appears to bear no relation to the one mentioned in the service manual, and there appears to be no controls for adjusting the laser focus. Is this normal? Is the service manual model newer/or older?

And finally... where can you get the test CD mentioned in the service manual from to check the levels?

Cheers,
Ivor

Beosound Ouveture CD cable

Hi,

I've just repaired a beosound ouveture but in the process managed to tear the delicate ribbon cable that goes from the CD controller board to the motor.
