I can compare the picture with the same STB and SCART lead anytime with my old tv.

I don't have the schematics here now, but from the quick look I took, it seems the RGB signals are switched passively between AV1 and AV2 using biased diodes - hardly videophile quality... It wouldn't be too hard to bypass this and hardwire RGB to only one of the SCARTs, with obvious drawbacks but sharper image. Well, I'm sure it's all surface mount components and I'm not going to touch that. Maybe I'll revert to Y/C, it seems to be implemented better...

Re: MX6000 RGB sharpness

nobby:

Better SCART leads?

So you have never had this "problem" with any of the MXes that pass by you?

Re: MX6000 RGB sharpness

Better SCART leads?

Bypass the SCART switching ... ouch ;o)

Re: MX6000 RGB sharpness

Have the same “problem” with my MX7000. I have a slight problem with the picture sharpness, though. This is most evident when I call up the menu and the picture underneath switches to composite. I know that is mostly artificial sharpness and I can't stand watching composite otherwise, but still the RGB picture from the stb is somewhat soft compared to my old Finlux.

The onscreen menus and teletext are razor sharp (and I've cleaned under the contrast screen...) so I don't think there's much to improve with adjustments. I noticed though that the RGB signals from the AV connectors go through rather complicated level clamping and switching networks - are there any components that could be upgraded / modified to improve the frequency response?
