It's a bit of bent wire but since most of the functions are at the front it doesn't get a lot of stress.

Mine has a plastic base but I'm sure I can make something up. The only issue (possibly) is the tuning dial which I noticed has some slack and may not sit flush.

I've some other work to do yet before I get to that stage but will let you know what I come up with.

It isn't "meant" to be mounted I don't think, though there may have been a special bracket for it. There is a wire backet on it to lift the back end up a bit.
I will be trying to mount mine on the wall though I think it will look great.

My memory about what i saw (at age 8 i think) is just a vague image,

but it looked like it came for outer space !

I entered the room and there, on the wall, was this metal piece of equipment,

with those 2 telescopic aerials pointing upward.

Never before had i seen something like this and a few years later i got my-first-B&O

a Beomaster 2000 (the 80's model)

Not as nice perhaps as the 70's Beomaster 2000, but to me it was, and is still magic.

I am sure you could attach some hooks screwed to the metal base and then use a system like that of the Beolab 5000 speakers.

On another note, isn't the metal bracket really tatty! The one on my 3400 was really bent and didn't match the system at all!

Not sure we are talking about the same 2000! Soundproof means the 70s one with the big tuning dial - I think the later posts are about the replacement for the 2300 that looks like the 4500.

Ignace might be thinking of the 1200 or possibly the 2000 - I think you could wall mount them though I don't have mine around any more to check!

(like f.e. Beosystem 4500)

I am still trying to find out which B&O product it was that i remember having seen in my early childhood,

it was wall-mounted, had 2 telescopic aerials (in "V"-shape).

Perhaps it was this Beomaster 2000 (?)

Wow! Problems with buttons and knobs! I have had my 2000 for over 20 years and the only thing that has gone wrong, (if that is the word), is the cat walked over it and had a heart attack when it wound up to max volume.

I just cannot bring myself to move it on. Looks good, (always gets admiring glances from friends), sounds good. What more do you need?

The B&O engineers have not spoken of mods, though. I do not know if they do them as part of the regular service.

They do sometimes have a fault with the tuning scale as the plastic wheel that the cord goes around disintegrates! Not much of an excuse but the best I can come up with!

One of my favourite Beomasters, beautiful and as Peter suggests, unfairly overlooked.

Two different amplifier builds were used through production, both
sounding wonderful despite their simplicity, still amazes me.

Hardly any standard faults on these machines.
Yes, the front panel knobs come off, that's very common, but can be glued right back on.

Replace capacitors and lamps and do the lamp and power supply modifications, kits are available.

Mine was black and teak. I think it cost me £30 from Tim. It is the one pictured on Beocentral. The Beocord 1100 is less remarkable! You want a 2200 to get a similar level of performance!

Lovely amplifier - Direct coupled and lots of power and control. One of the best of this era and unfairly ignored. There was also the 3400 derivative which was quadrophonic but FM only. Have had both.

I got one the other week in white not working unfortunately and the glue that holds the buttons on needs redoing but very cool looking in the flesh wider than I expected (Iknow I should have looked at the specs) I mean aestheticaly because of the black allong the back. Nice solid feel to the controls too.

I'll have a look at it at the weekend to see if it's something simple (wishfull thinking!)
