I really wanted to start a conversation with Dillen but it doesn't seem to work for me.

The lid doesn't hold open (of course?).

What I wanted to know was if it were possible to get the cap kit and the tacho disc, and possibly any fix someone could suggest for the lid problem.

I live in France, where B&O stuff is quite common.

Hi Martin!

My problem is the same one!

You wrote it!

"That the displays light up is no guarantee that the amplifier stages
are powered. Any faults in these will cause the safety circuit to kick
in. In this case, the Beomaster 8000 will power up with a series of 3-4
relay clicks rather than the normal 2, depending on the fault it may
even give a brief flash of the "clipping" lamp.

The "simplest"
little fault, like a bad idle current trimmer, can cause this. Grab a
capacitor kit and have them replace the lot while at it."

Would you be able to help me?

Which capacitors should I exchange ?

Where can I buy it?

I am from Hungarian.

e-mail adress:xrcd@freemail.hu

Greet the help.

It's optical. There's a lamp in the tracking housing at the foot of the carriage.
An interrupter, operated by the tonearm, interrupts the light from the lamp towards the sensor, reflecting
the angle of the tonearm.
Normally, you cannot see the light from this lamp because it's in a closed housing to avoid ambient
light disturbing the tracking.
I'm not referring to the lamp in the tracking arm next to the tonearm. That one, together with its
lens system and sensor, merely checks for the presence and (indirectly) the size of a record.

Transport can easily break a brittle filament in a 20+ years old lamp so I suppose that could be the case here.

You have a PM regarding the tachodisc.

thanks for helping! How much would it be?

And... about the lamp. I really woulnd't think about a blown lamp (if you refer to the sensor arm's light, it works).

I thought that it could be caused by an electric sensor that "feels" the tonearm's tilt, I couldn't imagine it was optical too

Good to know: I'll tell the B&O technician. I want to bring this BG 8000 to full life as it's a very remarkable piece.

Finally, I'd need a precious opinion from you. Stated that this BG 8000 has been really well packed (it took 15 actual minutes to open the box and unwrap it), it comes from NYC. Can the shipping (via USPS) be the cause of this malfunction, even if so well packed? I need to give a feedback, so...

Thanks a lot Martin!

I can supply the stainless tachodisc.

The tracking problem could be caused by a blown lamp in the tracking sensor housing at the foot of
the carriage, that's by far the most common reason for this problem.

where can I order a stainless steel tacho disk like yours?

And... any idea about the following problem?

The carriage correctly scans the turntable and follows any commands given by the buttons but, while playing the record, even if the tonearm correctly moves along the groove, it doesn't give the whole carriage the signal to move with it in order to let it stay tangential to the groove.
