A few gentle twists of a large standard screwdriver allowed the woofer to be separated from the glue that was holding them in place behind the baffle. &lt;p&gt;On the S45, the plastic ring is an integral part of the front panel.&lt;br /&gt;(On larger models, S55, S80 and up, the plastic ring is a separate part - but it still binds to the driver).&lt;/p&gt;

The front panel is held on with screws which are down the holes for the grille pegs. I prefer the S45-2 simply because they look a little neater. They are a reasonable size but for their time are small speakers and they don&amp;#39;t have the most extended bass in the world. What they do have is very accurate though.
