i cant actually see any dust, or any gap around the button

could that also be the reason why, when i set it spinning and move the stylus to the end of the record manually, it does not return automatically? it still 'springs' back but not right to start

Re: beocenter 3500 stylus not lowering

Panos,

Welcome to Beoworld !

The Beocenter 3500 is a wonderful beast and heavy, no plastics here !

Check that the LIFT button still moves and clicks when pressed. It can become stuck if dust etc. collects around the button.

It should rest flush with the aluminum surface of the deck.

Martin

beocenter 3500 stylus not lowering

Hi there

I went through a bit of trouble recently getting a Beocenter 3500 for my girlfriend as she has a large collection of vinyl and her last record player was a 'cheapie' that melted one summer in the sun! (I'm in Australia). I got it for her for her birthday, we hooked it up earlier tonight and listened to one side of 'let it be', and then flipped it over and... nothing. in fact, where it had once spun without me needing to touch anything, it now only turned on if i turned the 'manual' dial one notch to the right however the stylus would not lower to the record anymore.

Just to reiterate, it played through a full side of the record (perfectly I might add, and I've never heard it sound that good before either!), then the stylus returned to the starting position and the record stopped spinning. After flipping it over, the stylus no longer lowered to the vinyl.

After perusing this forum for a while I sheepishly unscrewed the transport screws however I am still stuck with the same problem. Can anyone help me?

Thank you

Panos
