There is a fuse (F1, 250mA) in the motor circuit. I guess a new one will do the trick!

Of course, a new fuse will not garantee that the motor is okay. It might have worn out brushes or bearings. A good idea would be to test it with a 9V battery.

Re: Beocord 8000 problem

First question: Does the capstan turn when the recorder is on?

Secondly, Did you install the belts the right way and is it the right kit?

The head block won't be kept engaged if the tape doesn't move at all as it senses that the tape side has played to it's end. Can the machine engage in rewinding?

I'm new in here, cause I'm new with B&O vintage stuff. I got this Beocord 8000 from a friends father. But it doesn't really work the way I would like it to. I Googled around, and it seemed like a probable cause that I needed to replace the belst. So I did, but still, no playing. I won't play and it won't fast forward. The light underneath the tape turns on, so it detects that there is a tape. But when I press play, the "reader thing" goes toward the tape, stands there for a tiny second, and falls back again, without the tape turning at all. It's like the motor isn't doing anything at all. It worked perfectly well just a few years back, but has been packed away for the last years until I got my hands on it.

I posted a short video showing the problem on youtube:

http://youtu.be/0yMWauWcSRM

I would really appreciate if someone has any kind of suggestion what to do. I'm a bit stuck in my "project" at the moment.

Thanks!

Peter
