I had a similar problem on my BM8000. When I opened up the front, I found a broken rubber "O" ring hanging from one of the ribbon cables. This O ring was part of the volume wheel assembly. The assembly was fairly easy to take apart, the O ring was refitted and I used some high viscosity grease to damp the motion. Since then, everything has worked fine. Should be fairly easy for you to fix.

Regards

Last night I realized that my Beomaster 8000's volume control suddenly started spinning as freely as the tuning scroll wheel. The previously present damping is all gone. One can now slightly accelerate the wheel and then watch (and hear!!) as it runs up towards 6.0...Before I take it apart, I was wondering if anyone has had the same phenomenon and mabye has some recommendations what to do (and perhaps more importantly, what not...;-)? Thanks much in advance!
